Adds the expected vibration, intake and exhaust noise to an electric bike.

Would you buy an electric bike that you wouldn't otherwise buy just because it now feels like a gas bike?

And on that note, do we need a fake O-200 on an electric airplane?

You mean like Ford adding a fake manual stick shift to an EV?

Why not? Ford has been using the stereo to pump fake V8 noise into V6 ecoboost trucks for many years.

Damn this ecoboost sounds good!
BMW and others have also done this for over a decade.

As a motorcycle rider my beef with electric isn’t lack of vibration, noise, or feel, but lack of range. I go places on my bikes, and need something that can carry me and full bags at least 180mi on a tank/charge, and then be able to go up to another 170 after a quick refill/charge.

EDIT: And, this crazy idea will only reduce range as energy is wasted to pump air and create the fake engine noise/feel.

I would challenge Yamaha with building a 2 stroke “fake” engine that would not only have the sound but also the smoke and smell. Use the KT-100 as a standard of wow.

Agree, range and to a lesser extent charge-speed are my primary reasons for having little interest in an electric bike at the moment. I commute daily on a motorcycle in anything except ice/snow or really heavy rain. At an absolute minimum, I'd want something that has a solid 100-mile range on the very coldest days. But at that point, I'm really left asking why I wouldn't just buy a regular bike which can do the job with less fuss.

Does it leak fake oil on your driveway?
Ir might leak real oil. All that nonsense motion has to be lubricated. You'll need to change the oil and do other nonsense maintenance as well.

I’ve been riding since the 80s. I don’t care about a bike sounding like a bike. Performance, handling, comfort, reliability, and luggage capacity are what matter to me. And range. I need a bike that can go 180-200 miles between fillups, and be refilled to 100% fuel in 10 minutes.

I’m not doing rallies, just don’t want to take excess time at gas stations. When I take long trips, the morning are usually tank-to-tank, especially if I need to cover a lot of miles to get to the scenery. Afternoons are a slower pace, typically 45 minutes riding with a five to 10 minute break. Unless I find ice cream.

Plus, Mattel already figured it out in the 60s. Batteries not included.

I had one of those on my tricycle back in 1963 or so. Lost the "key" to it so I just had a paperclip stuffed into the "ignition."

I always figured if'n I got one of them thar gasless engine cars I would want it to sound like this...

I'm surprised Mattel hasn't filed suit for patent infringement on the Vroom Motor....

Their patent has probably already expired, if they ever had one.
Yes, but it's definitely prior art. You can't have a (defensible) patent on something that's already out in the public.
