FCC has opened up two new HAM bands. An NDB transmitter can be modified to operate on those bands. An ADF can be used as a receiver. I have the ADF. I need a de-commissioned NDB transmitter. My home drome has already disposed of theirs.

If anyone knows of an NDB that will be taken out of service, or has been taken out of service, and the equipment is still kicking around. please let me know.

I wonder if an NDB transmitter complies as-is with the 630 meter 5 W EIRP maximum?

I kinda doubt it. But it can be modified.

I'm sure the Hood NDB (347Khz) will be decommissioned soon. I'll await the turn-in to DRMO and see if it shows up in the surplus web site.

EDIT: It's gone.... Not on any map or chart. Probably too late to find where it went.
:(:(

You could probably steal one, and the only person that might notice is an IR student.
