@WannFly and @Sinistar have been wanting to fly into Wisconsin and meet any fellow POA'ers. We find your ways strange, yet interesting :)

@flyingcheesehead, @Radar Contact, @Mtns2Skies and any other interested Packer Fans?

Now @WannFly is making things complicated (which he always does :)) as he's flying from KFAR (Fargo) so he requested something around 300nm max.

    [REVISED]

    Location: (KMFI) Marshfield, Wisconsin
    Date: Saturday May 11th
    Time: 1130am
    Lunch: Libby McNeil's (https://hotelmarshfield.com/food-drink/)
    FBO: Duffy's (http://duffysaircraft.com/)
    Fuel: Self Serve 100LL @ $4.49
    Runways: 16/43 (5002x100 asphalt) & 5/23 (3597x100 asphalt)
    Alternate Date: Saturday Math 18th
Airspace Gotcha's: Under a MOA and small Restricted Area about 10nm south.

Right now there's a good chance my wife will join. She'll probably dibs left seat on the outbound leg, drink wine, get silly and make me fly back :) So there might be a lady or two along for lunch.

NOTE: Sunday May 12th is Mother's Day.

I already know I can't make that date, maybe you can start another thread for that one. I was hoping to meetup in May before all the summer fly-in's get going.

If around I’d throw in, the more central the better. Boscobel is another with 2 courtesy cars, cheaper fuel, & nice facilities.

Most of WI is under a 2hr flight for me. But the Fargo wrench sort of limits the possibilities. JVL would otherwise be a good spot.

LNL has REALLY good (but pricey) steakhouse adjacent, but that would have to be a dinner time get together.

I just started a new job and I'm inching closer to the end of my instrument so I'm going to be super non-commital and give a good ol' "we'll see" :) But go on and have fun kids!

Your LNL idea got me to thinking...what about Voyager's (9WN2). I know its on the west side but I have heard good things about it.

Getting some votes for Janesville. That pushing it pretty far for @WannFly. And isn't @Radar Contact based right around there somewhere...we gotta get him to fly that 310 right!

Or how about Marshfield (KMFI). That's 309nm for our Fargo flier and he just skirts the MSP bravo. I see a decently rated hotel restaurant just 4 blocks away so its a quick walk and no crew car needed. Two nice runways and self serve 100LL if you need fuel. BONUS: If the MOA's are active we'll all be scrambling (pun intended).

I like KMFI option, but 4 blocks is too long to walk, someone might have to carry me . If we are going to any “pilot controlled” airport, be advised I only fly one approach, straight in 5 miles.

I will try to join. Plane reserved for the 11th.

Any food near 4r5? I’ve been there a couple times, but can’t recall if the walk to town is onerous.

Madeline Island: I'll ask my wife, she's flown up there in her Chief but it was a few years back.

I asked my wife about Madeline island. She loves the flight. But if its for something like lunch I guess its a pretty long walk. Healthy! But not time/schedule friendly if you have limited time for the stop.

Flown in there a number of times. Had a friend who lives nearby (well, he still lives there, just don't consider him a friend anymore).

If it's the 11th, I'll see about making it. If it's the 18th/19th, I'm gonna be on the other side of the world flying airplanes.

I'll try to make it but it may be for breakfast. May just have to see ya'll as blips on the ADS-B screen. I usually have to work Saturday afternoon's. :)

Once we get closer to the fly in date, I would like to discuss what kind of pattern entry y’all are doing and which is best. I will do my usual straight in, and call it a practice RNAV approach

Sure hope we can catch you before you blast off for work. As it gets closer, maybe we can all bump up our arrivals a bit to say Hi.

@Radar Contact, if you fly up for breakfast what is your NLT time to depart back for work?

Generally no. In fact, it's fairly rare for them to be active at all.

The R-areas, though... Steer well clear of those when they're active, they have firing ranges there! Pretty neat to see them light the place up with tracers when they're active at night. :)
