IMG_0031.jpegIMG_0032.jpegHow are things where you are? Here in north metro Atlanta there’s some ice accumulation on the trees, but not enough to break branches.

We’re expecting above freezing temperatures and rain this afternoon, then dry and below freezing overnight. I wouldn’t plan on driving tomorrow morning.

North Texas. Looks like snow. Its just solid ice though. I don't think we got snow. It just sleeted for 48 hours.

back to the future?

spoiled all the fun

It's now 33 degrees with light rain, and some of the ice is melting off of the trees. Forecast is for the rain to stop and the temperatures to drop below freezing until Tuesday afternoon. Any currently wet roads will be iffy until then.

I measured 1.75" at our house in NW Plano. I drove to Addison airport and back today and hardly left any tire tracks. The surface is rough, so traction was not bad.

We had a similar sleetfall a number of years ago, you could walk on it and not leave footprints. It''s hilly here and I didn't dare get on the slope because I'd have been at the bottom posthaste.

I was in Army Ranger School in 1988. We were patrolling at night along the Appalachian Trail in Georgia. It was cold and raining.

I noticed the guys in front of me were leaving white footprints on the ground. I hadn't slept in several days and this confused me.

After a while we stopped and I figured it out. The rain was freezing on the ground and glazing the leaves with clear ice.

It was really depressing to realize we were gonna have to sleep in that.

just removed 7" to 8" of light-ish snow on the driveway.

Melted a bit and re-froze last night and now it is slick
