Why you should ALWAYS bring a gun camping

I thought we already established law enforcement was a failure at stopping crime and that is why we needed a well armed society?

The real question is when will this girl,

be charged with crimes against humanity for all the skin cancer that she caused directly and indirectly??
No, but those who post her picture will be charged with distributing child pornography. Excuse me while I go delete my browser cache! :)

BTW, this thread will now probably jump up in the Google ratings!

For clarity, police protect society as a whole, by reducing the number of predators in the community and lowering rate of crime (thereby reducing the ODDS that any one citizen will be a victim of crime.

Police are not able to prevent any specific crime from occurring, and cannot help you when you are faced with an attacker. The crime will be long over, and the outcome long determined, before the police arrive.
We will do a great investigation, and quite likely catch the criminal and put them in jail, thereby protecting the people who would have been that predator's future victims.

The only person who can protect you is you. I am a retired cop, and I know that 911 is what you call after the thing is over.

Well said Alan, and very true. Obviously, you speak from experience.

Do you know Larry Johnson? He's a retired LEO. I did two CCW courses with him when I lived in the Denver area, and based at KFTG. Great guy.

No, but I'm going to look him up now.

I think you should ALWAYS bring toilet paper camping. Leaves don't cut it.

Looks like guns failed to protect these hikers from a bear attack!!

They seem to be investigating the bear shooting more then most homicides. Good use of resources.....

Has there ever been any further news about the original topic of this thread?

Not a thing. Either wound up being a boring story with a lame outcome, or an entirely made up event, I'd guess, otherwise the news would be all over it.

The shooter Jeremy Chiolero was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and possession of a firearm by a felon:

D-412-CR-201000132 (District court)
M-48-FR-201000224 (magistrate)
