Why we give rides

Not for the money, that’s for sure! I hAve only rarely been offered money for fuel. I do enjoy taking people for a ride that seriously appreciate it.

One of my fellow curlers turns out to be a former controller from the former Griffis Approach (now Syracuse). He had not been in a GA plane in 30 years so we met up for a flight. It was an eye-opener for him (tech marches on) and a lot of fun tooling around the Finger Lakes. Turns out he remembered my tail number as I did a boatload of training and trips in and out of Griffis airspace.

Because it’s the right thing to do. If you inspire one person to join the GA community,it’s worth it.

Great job! And excellent reminder that we all are ambassadors for our community to varying degrees and are capable of influencing the general public for both good and bad.
