Why I hate fly-ins...

Re: Why I hat fly-ins...

When the FAA posts the notam isn't that pretty much a gotta follow thing?

IOWs can they violate you for not following the NOTAM?
I've never heard of anyone being violated for deviating from the NOTAM and/or ATC instructions at OSH. More than one pilot has flown in as it flying into a non-busy uncontrolled without even being aware of the NOTAM and didn't get busted. I've personally witnessed an airplane descending out of the 1000' overcast on downwind among other indiscretions.

I imagine they could, but who's going to show up if they're worried about violations? But that means a lot of loafers show up who haven't properly briefed themselves.

This thread has drifted back on topic. Should it be clothed?

Chucks, I hate it when that happens. We really sHOOD be better about this. But chullo know it is more fun than an argument about who to talk to while parka-ing your airplane.

Well, the critics know vest, but some folks obviously gLOVE their fingers!

Can, yes. Up until a couple years ago, though, there was apparently an unwritten "no harm, no foul" policy WRT Oshkosh by the FAA... But the word is, that's no longer the case. Good riddance, too.

Signed,

Someone who was on final to OSH Rwy 9 when a Luscombe landed on 27 not talking to anyone.
