Interfacing GNX 375 GPS/Transponder with G5 -

Obviously, I will wire it up as the manual says, but I'm curious about something -

The G5 install manual says the G5 will receive nav data on the can bus from the GAD 29B. Yet, a paragraph or two earlier, it says it will receive GPS data for aiding along RS-232... Why both? Redundancy? Separation of power? Checks and balance? ...oh, wait, those last two are something else that's failed these days...

RS232 sends some data that ARINC429 doesn’t and vice versa. The GAD29 converts the ARINC429 signal to a format the G5 can read.
