Why do I always have to wait??? RANT

How many of you have enough time and money to fly?

  • I fly all I want.

  • I don't fly as much as I like because I can't afford it.

  • I have no time to fly.

  • I have no money or time to fly.

  • I can't fly because I don't have AoA.

Had a good weekend. Spent all day Sunday working on the plane but it seems like no matter what I do, I have to wait before I can go fly. I'm 30 days into a new to me Challenger Ultralight but still waiting for FAA registration, a CFI to give me some duel, an A&P to do a conditional inspection and the freakin weather to clear up!!! Another 6" of snow yesterday!!!

Then this summer I have to build a hangar and runway but, I can't do that until I finish remodeling my son's bedroom and building my wife a deck.

I guess I should feel lucky that I have a plane, but sometimes it just seems I'll never get there.

a CFI to give me some duel,

Do you have a proper set of dueling pistols?

Move kid into hangar, he'll love it. Knock down exterior wall in kids old bedroom. Tell wife, there's yer #>>##^ deck.

...in flying...patience is an absolute necessity...if you ain't got it...don't fly...period!!!

Well I have enough time and enough money to fly, but not as much of either as I'd like. Given the choice, I'd like a little more time than money at the moment. I could make more time by making less money (and vice versa), but life won't let me make changes in small enough increments as I'd like.

Hmmmm. An extension of the bedroom looks suspiciously like a hangar, and the adjoining part of the deck looks suspiciously like a launch catapult...

I can only pick one?!? I was tormented between not enough time and money, and no AoA. Technically all the above hold true for me!

All I can say is... be glad that you are waiting. The alternative to that is money flying out of your pocket. The A&P doing the inspection (which is basically an annual), the dual training, the fuel, the maintenance, the tie-down or hangaring... man, my checkbook went from not being used for years to completely running out of checks in one book over the course of a month! Who knew that Cup o'Noodles could be split into two meals?

You mean a light sport, not an ultralight?
You are correct. I should have called it light sport but I've gotten into a bad habit of calling it an ultralight because non aviation people don't know what light sport is. Thanks!

I'll get back to you later.

One of the best things I ever did was get out of the stupid suburban house with property and get a townhouse.

Now I have plenty of time and more money to do what I want.

It was amazing how much of a time/money suck that house was.

Ugh. Townhouse is like being in a tenement.
