Why aren't "y"'s in the middle of names more popular?

Is it because the "i" is a superior vowel?
Or is it because it makes it a girls name?

Is having a y in the middle of your name better or worse than being a soulless ginger?

Well, we have one here who has a "y" in the middle of his name. His behavior should answer most, if not all, of your questions.

Hey, don't hate on my middle name--Chyler (pronounced like kyle, but with an er on the end).

I don't think there's anything wrong with it either way. It's just a matter of preference.

Ryan - father of Kyle

Because it is much cooler to have the y at the end of your name....

Y is superior because it can be a vowel or a consonant.
I on the other hand....

Also there is no "y" in penys or dyck

There is a y in Yoda. Let that sink in.

Let me ask you this: Is it fun to stay at the I M C A?
I didn't think so!

Also, it is not Zyma that is the Cyrrus pilot's beverage of choice.

I think the argument is settled.

While your argument was somewhat marginally persuasive, it must be pointed out that there was no "try" in Yoda. There was only do or do not.

Tymothy Josyph Thomys Wynters has a nice ring to it...

A guy on another forum I frequent signs his name as "Y@". Took me a minute to figure that one out.

So your saying Y is bi-letteral. (NTTAWWT)

Correct. But those aren't normally names, unless I'm referring to my boss. Or some Cyrrus pilot on a 10mi straight in final....:D

Powerful is the Y in Yoda. At the front of the name it is though. mmmm.

When I was little, I always heard my name with a Y before and after ...

"Why, Greg? Why?"

usually followed with

"What the hell were you thinking?"

I have a Y in the middle of my last name but it's used as a consonant so it's OK...

passed on down thru the generations ... my youngest son thought we were Irish ... he was always hearing "Oh, Brian, what are you doing?"

It is simple.

I tell people my name is Brian.

Bryans have to say that their name is Brian with a Y.

How the hell do you fill out the scan tron, drivers license application, and birth certificate with 'with a Y'.

Parents can be cruel.

I have no middle name. My parents both hated their middle names, so they didn't give their children a middle name.

It is sometimes a pain when filling out forms. Years ago, when there was still military conscription, the Draft Board couldn't figure out what to do with pinko commies with no middle names. The solution was to put the letters "NMN" in parentheses between the first and last names.

For years, my driver's license had ”None" between my first and last names. If someone asked me what my middle name was I would reply "None.". I could always whip out my license and show them if they were unconvinced.

My sister became so frustrated with having to explain her lack of a middle name that she legally changed her name to add one. She chose a boring, plain vanilla name. I would have picked something like "Treebark" or "bfpltspk", but that's just me. Actually, I rather like being a square peg in a world full of round holes.

I'm Bryson....people usually get it right but I HATE when it's misspelled Brison (or with a C [instead of an S...i know someone here would bring up "Brcson?])"

There is only ONE proper way to spell Bryson!

Life would have easier if I spelled my name Tyson instead of just pronouncing it that way.

I got stuck with a first name that was way out of step with the times and I never use it. Some folks think that because I sign my name first initial, middle name, last name, I don't know what I'm doing. They've given me all kinds of AKA's.
