I just found my hairbrush behind between the record player and the TV. It's been missing for over a week. But, still cannot find the TV remote. It isn't under the couch or the table. It isn't in the kitchen (I checked every drawer) or the bathroom. Where is it?

Stuck in the sofa cushions.

There are smartphone apps that allow your phone to work as a TV remote on many systems. Get one of those, and they you'll lose your phone. At least you could call it to find out where it was.

If you had a phone.

I have a Yamaha AV receiver and they have an app for iDevices, I can control/play using their app and Airplay. Works great no matter which device.

Probably not a good question to ask your AME at your next medical.

Do u have a gallon of milk on the coffee table? If so, check the fridge for the remote.

The sofa cushions have a habit iPod hiding the remote on you.

next to the phone (landline, if you have one)
or
in the pocket of <robe or whateveryouwerewearingwhenyoulasthadthe remote>
or
the rubbish (accidently or deliberately)
or

We look in the trash can next to the end table. That's usually where things end up when the cat gets bored and pushes stuff off.

If you have a record player, it's a "clicker" you are looking for, not a remote!!:rofl:

I vote for the fridge/freezer. I have found mine there a few times.

My parents got their first color Tv in 1985. It was also their first Tv with a remote. That remote looked very similar to my moms pocket calculator.

One time I put the remote in my moms purse. She went to balance her checkbook. Pop was watching the Tv. Mom kept pushing the buttons and saying, "I think my calculator is broken."

My dad was staring at the Tv like it was possessed.....

Wonder why I was left out of the will...?? :dunno: :rofl::rofl:

I'm just guessing but I think you'd notice if it was anywhere that needed surgical removal.

That's all I've got. Can't think of anything else. :)

Okay, all you need to do is ask yourself one question...

"Where is the most remote place it could possibly be?"

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaa!

I FOUND IT!!!
It had slipped inside the cover of the sofa throw pillow.

I'm going to blame my 2-year-old granddaughter for hiding it so I couldn't turn off Daniel Tiger -- mainly because she cannot defend herself.

Think about the things you do during a commercial:
Go to the bathroom?
Check the washer or dryer?
Check the fridge?
Look in those places.
I found it in the fridge one time after retracing my most likely steps.

Note to self: Don't put the remote down so you can pick up the OJ to take a swig out of the bottle. But I'm sure AP would never do that. I think it's a guy thing.

Have you looked in the "last place"?

Anytime something of mine goes missing, it's always found in the last place I look.

A few years ago I bought a new DVD player because after much (really a whole bunch) diligent searching neither my wife nor I could find the remote for the one we had. And we needed the remote to access functions on the DVDs (other than "play"). When I pulled the old DVD player out of the cabinet to start unplugging it, I found the remote. At some point I had put it on top of the DVD player and it had gotten bumped off the back and was buried in the rat's nest of cables behind. I've still got the new DVD sitting on top where I stuck it. I've never hooked it up.

Glad you found yours. It's frustrating. I threaten to get a USB programmable master remote, but my wife hates technology and wouldn't want to use it.

I have had smart remotes for years. If you need to manage multiple devices they really simplify things for the non- techies in your life. I highly recommend the Logitech one. It has cloud based programming, so it always has the latest device profiles. It is super easy to program, unlike some the earlier ones I used, where you basically had to write macros.

I had a Logitech Harmony for quite a while, unfortunately, their software no longer supports my remote so I can't update it. And in the meantime the only component I haven't replaced is my DVD player, which never gets used anymore. Annoys me to no end that right now I have to have 2 remotes available on a regular basis (TV & receiver) with a 3rd on rare occasions (DVD).

I'm just not enamored with the new Logitech remotes. I want something simple, and not spend $100+ on it.

I have had my current Harmony (second of this model) for about 4 years. I think the last time I changed a device was about a year and a half ago and I didn't have any issues. Is there a firmware update you can download?

I usually find the remote in the kitchen or the laundry room. I have a tendency to check on the laundry during commerical breaks.

I hate to break it to you, but for a bunch of us that was futuristic stuff "back in the day". :D

Yes it was, notice the name on it, "Space Command" :D

Space Command… oh hell yes. I remember being in the store just imagining being layed out on a recliner with the "space command" in my hand. I thought life couldn't get any better if you had one of those.

BTW- If you had one of those TV's today it would still probably work perfectly even the remote.

It was ultrasonic. The button clicked a sort of tuning fork that vibrated at a certain frequency. The TV "listened" for that frequency. My dad had a friend, EE who repaired TVs as a hobby. He told me (and showed me) you could turn the TV on/off by dropping a #8 knitting needle on the hardwood floor and change the channel up by dropping a #4. Those old analog color TVs were some very interesting technology. How they piggybacked the color signal on the black and white without disrupting the black and white was amazing. All analog.

Wow, thats a blast from the past.. When I was a kid those things drove me nuts,,,, for some reason I could hear the tuning fork ding every time someone used it..:mad2::mad2::mad2:.....The dog and I would just stare at each other in disbelief when someone was flipping through channels....:rofl:
