When did you...

1) Have you had spin training? Yes.

2) How much time passed between receiving your PPL and your first spin training lesson? Two years and 275 flight hours.

3) What aircraft did you learn spins in? Citabria.

4) Have you done spins in any other aircraft since? No.

1. Yes, during commercial pilot training
2. ? 100 hours
3. C152
4. C150, Citabria, DA20, Grob 103

Yes,
PPL in 1974, spin training in 1983
T-37
Yes, CFI training in L-13 (glider), administer spin training now to my students on a regular basis! Grob 103, SGS 2-33A

1) Have you had spin training?

Yes, 1971

2) How much time passed between receiving your PPL and your first spin training lesson?

0... Spin training began at hour 6; aerobatics at hour 8.

3) What aircraft did you learn spins in?

Introduced in a Taylorcraft and C-150. Then Aerobatics in a Citabria and Aerobat.

4) Have you done spins in any other aircraft since?

No...

1) - back in the early 70's
2) -20 hours - I had spin training early in my training
3) C-150
4) Lot's of spins in gliders 1-26, 2-33, 2-22, 1-34, Grob acro. No spinning in aircraft not certified for them.
I did a lot of spins with what passed for a full motion simulator back in the 60s, that is with RC models. Learned and demonstrated both how benign and catastrophic they can be.

Lots of demonstrations :hairraise: :goofy: :yikes:

I was reading an article in GA News and it got me to thinking about a couple questions for the non-commercial pilot population ...

1) Have you had spin training?

Yes.

2) How much time passed between receiving your PPL and your first spin training lesson?

Did it during initial training. And pretty much every time we took the 150 out. Just because its fun to do.

3) What aircraft did you learn spins in?

150

4) Have you done spins in any other aircraft since?

Citabria

1. Yes.
2. Didn't have my PPL yet. Did it DURING the PPL. Why wait?
3. Skyhawk.
4. Aircraft type or different tail number? All were in a Skyhawk. It's fairly docile in spins. I'd want significant training to spin something more "entertaining".

1.) Yes, and I now teach it.

2.) Did some in a 152 during my training and then more involved about 10 hrs after my checkride.

3.) 8KCAB Super Decathlon

4.) Yes, Decathlons, Citabrias, J-3, Great Lakes, Extra

1. No, other than avoiding them. Every airplane I trained in was placarded against intentional spins. :(
2. N/A, although I do plan to seek out spin training this summer.
3. N/A
4. Nope. But I plan to. I've seen a spin start to develop in a 172, and the pucker factor went up so high I figure two things must be true:
1.) I really need to learn how to deal with it if it ever happens "for real".
2.) Done on purpose and under the right conditions, it looks like it could be a LOT of fun.

Yes

None, did it before solo.
3) What aircraft did you learn spins in?
Cub

4) Have you done spins in any other aircraft since?
Yes, well same airplane

1) Have you had spin training? - Yep, but my CFI wouldn't give me the endorsement because it wasn't "3 hours, including inverted spins"

2) How much time passed between receiving your PPL and your first spin training lesson? - I did my spin training during my checkride prep for the PPL. Had a lesson I didn't need scheduled, so we spun instead.

3) What aircraft did you learn spins in? - 172. No idea what model to be honest.

4) Have you done spins in any other aircraft since? - I did a couple in a Great Lakes during an into aerobatic flight. Still hated them. Unfortunately I need to go find a CFI who will give me the endorsement after I meet the legal requirements.. sigh. I'll probably finish it in another 172 so I don't have to do 3+ hours in the Lakes doing them.
