And welcome to POA. People may be a bit skeptical at first due to a number of deep trolls that have appeared over the years, and even then the, uh, sense of humor occasionally escapes some.I am who I say I am
Absolutely and thank you!I have flown with two different pilots, and enjoyed the experience. Great design, and flight characteristics that please military pilots, as well as this civilian. Glad to have you here, m.mooney, be advised this can be a harsh flying experience at POA.
Still a good place to hang out. eman1200 is a Mooney fancier, so should like you if you are who you say, which should become clear as time passes, so be patient.![]()
While I don't know everything about my Grandfather, I have a lot of resources where I can find answers. So if I can answer a question I will if I can't I'll just let you know.
So my uncle Art was 4 years older than my grandfather, My grandfather got a book on model airplanes and he says here he had to get on a box to reach the table in In order to build the model airplanes I don't know how old he was But it's amazing to me that at such a young age he knew what he was going to do both my grandfather and my uncle art had heart and vision. Also my great-grandfather their father worked as an engineer on railroads I mean building them and they worked on those Crews when they were young and did more and more things as they got older that's what were some of their practical experience came in. As far as I know they loved boating and fishing and my uncle art loved reading. One story my grandfather tells in his book and has told me is that he was promised a bonus by one of his bosses when he was young he never got the bonus instead later on he got a dog from them which he loved but he named the dog bonus! I believe his boss did not think that was funny However I think it's hilariousI'm interested in his "aviation origin story". Do you know what got him interested in aviation, and in designing airplanes? Was he a pilot first, or an engineer/designer?i
Also, what did he enjoy doing that wasn't directly related to aviation? Any other hobbies?
No I wish I was but I was too young to learn. When I became a teenager and a young adult I was going to school and the opportunity just never showed up by that time he was in his 80s, and his health was not what it used to be. It's not something I would have asked him at that stage.Welcome! Glad to have you here. Are you a pilot?
I quoted what you said and wrote out an answer separately this pretty much tells you the same thingI'm interested in his "aviation origin story". Do you know what got him interested in aviation, and in designing airplanes? Was he a pilot first, or an engineer/designer?

No I wish I was but I was too young to learn.
The truth is I am 63 years old and I have a lot of back problems when I was younger than probably was a possibility but now that I'm older I'm having to deal with some physical issues that limit me driving much less flying
If I Could Turn Back Time I would have made time to learn to fly
Actually no I have never been up in a Mooney Airplane....
Man, I’ll be out of town……..
Certainly. In Kennesaw, GA.
Alternatively, you could delegate the job to one of your Mooney pals, if you still have any left.
Nobody needs to volunteer somebody else to do this. If somebody wants to volunteer that's fine but volunteering somebody else to do something is not always cool
It's not my age so much as it is my back problemsGuy who lives behind me started flying lessons at 76 years old. 63? You’re just a pup yet!
(I’m 2 years ahead of you…)
In case you haven't already figured it out, @eman1200 is the source and butt of many jokes on the board. One of which is his Mooney that he really wishes was a Bonanza.Nobody needs to volunteer somebody else to do this. I am 5'5 so I think I can I would bring my husband with me but I don't think he would fit in there because he has 6.5Well, if this is a real Ms. Mooney and not someone pullin' our legs, I'd volunteer my 1965 Mooney M20C if and when you would want to fly in one. McCollum (RYY) has a nice restaurant so at a minimum we could meet you, hear stories, and you could see if you can get into/out of a Mooney.
And I've been the real Martha Mooney since I was bornWell, if this is a real Ms. Mooney and not someone pullin' our legs, I'd volunteer my 1965 Mooney M20C if and when you would want to fly in one. So I should go for a Bonanza then.Rumor has it that your granddad was something like 7'2" and he designed the plane to accomodate himself. Tall people fit in them just fine, but they do tend to be a bit narrow and snug for robust passengers.
No man my grandfather was 10 ft tall!!!Rumor has it that your granddad was something like 7'2" and he designed the plane to accomodate himself. Tall people fit in them just fine, but they do tend to be a bit narrow and snug for robust passengers.
The plane's safe. I just flew it back from annual inspection today from a Mooney Service Center here in NC, if that means anything these days. It even has bright, new LED blinky lights and new LED nav lights, which we all know is the most important thing. /sAlso I would want to know is the plane safe and is a pilot good and experienced
