What is the Regulatory Difference between GPS S-# and RNAV (GPS) L-NAV

If it has GPS as the title (rather than RNAV (GPS)), it's an earlier design of approach. Most of these have been phased out along with the overlays (or GPS) approaches in lieu of the new FAA way of doing things.
