What is the Regulatory Difference between GPS S-# and RNAV (GPS) L-NAV

What is the legal difference between a GPS S-# only approach and a RNAV (GPS) L-NAV approach? They both are GPS approaches with roughly the same non-precision MDA mins. I know RNAV refers back to both the old RNAV and the newer GPS units.

So is the difference old style GPS units that cannot provide 0.3 RNP or something else?

If it has GPS as the title (rather than RNAV (GPS)), it's an earlier design of approach. Most of these have been phased out along with the overlays (or GPS) approaches in lieu of the new FAA way of doing things.

The old title convention is being superseded by the current naming convention when the procedure comes up for full revision. This is the case in your example, come this November:
