Only in The Seattle area do you find the inept, driving down the MIDDLE of the freeway , flashers on. -25MPH and everyone else passing on both sides. I just round-tripped from Des Moines to Fed Way, 45 MPH on I-5. Smooth & steady. traffic flowing well. only a few morons blocking the way. Don't overdrive your ability's & equipment! but don't assume nobody else can do better than you can, stay to the right ( AS REQUIRED BY LAW). Dave

We got about 5" or so last night, still coming down. People drive just as bad here in the snow storms as they do in the middle of july.

Even the big Iron has slowed way down. Most seem to be doing the 'dive & drive". they are down way low a lot further out. maintaining visual under the low deck until the get to the runway. Seems to be just above the MDA. I am under SeaTac Approach. !.5 - 2 miles out Dave

Why do I doubt that?

Without question, they are on the ILS.

all I can tell you for sure is that I visually see them under the deck, They are a lot lower and also lower further than ussual. Must be on the bottom edge of the ILS. I see these guys every day 24/7 365 since '92. When a 747 is that low I notice. :) Ghery, was he coming my way? I think I passed him too!. And that stupid TV Crew Tom, They were filming the one idiot in the ditch for the entire ten mile trip.:dunno: Most of the rest of us were doing just fine.
:) Dave

Typical media, 2% of the people make 100% of the news.

It is an optical illusion for you. Without the slightest possibility otherwise, the airlines you see coming into SeaTac are on the ILS......with the needles exactly centered.

Not only Seattle - lotsa dimbulbs in the South do that when it rains hard. In the rare snowstorm, fortunately, they tend to disappear (if they don't end up in the ditch first).

When you get to 18" in 24 hours, I'll pay attention. I'm from MAINE. :)

Thanks for the pics, TD, they're rather....pretty :)

It will be back in the 40s by Friday, and 13 rivers will be over their banks by Saturday. Normal winter here in the sound.

No kidding.

Typical media, 2% of the people make 100% of the news.

That high? 1% would work for me. But normal people don't create "news". And they get their ratings from sensationalizing everything.

I would have taken pictures, but I had both hands on the wheel. :D

And that will be added to this week.

Yeah I was supposed to pick my plane up at the avionics shop today I called and he laughed.... I really don't know when I'll be able to fly it the 30NM back to my home airport, my house got about 16" today and it's not showing any signs of letting up.

Here's tomorrows forecast.

Snow accumulations tonight through Thursday are expected to range from 20" to 30" with higher amounts expected over Lolo Pass

We must remember what month this is.

The snow in the street was so wet yesterday that I couldn't get up the hill, so I worked from home. Power went out around 1:40 PM. It's still out and based on the trees I saw blocking streets (took a few tries to find a way into town that wasn't blocked after fighting my way up the hill this morning) I don't think we'll have it back soon. Not 10 days like 1996, I hope. At least I made it into the office today.

That must be standard practice for that area. A couple of years ago enroute from ATL to PANC, we had a layover in SEA then the big snowstorm was hitting there (Thanksgiving 2010). We dropped down to the bottom of the clouds - I could see ground every once in a while - ~4-5k I would guess - and flew at that altitude for what seemed like 20 minutes before starting back down again.

Well, today is Friday, it's 38 degrees and water is every where except down the drain. We will spend the rest of the afternoon clearing slush dams preventing the water from getting to the storm drain.

Could you send some of that our way? Skiing is EPIC but my 32 Gallon Garbage cans that sit beside my garage cannot be found and I almost need to step down to get into my above ground hot tub.

My dogs are having a blast though and watching people attempt to drive in it is somewhat entertaining when it's not irritating.

It's been doing that in Portland, too; got these pictures from work associates up there. The first is from one employee's in-law's back porch; the other is from the other employee's farm. He said that in this picture there's a bridge under 4 feet of water, and the normal creek level is 5 feet BELOW the bridge. :yikes:
