Touchdown! Greaser!
Don't be so sure! A walking skeleton would scare the heck out of me.But you're right--a 6-foot ectomorph at 155 lbs. isn't exactly a threatening presence, LOL!

I am running 4-6 miles a day, six days a week. I'm slow, though--but mostly basing things on a target heart rate of 130 bpm

I am a runner and have done a fair number of races. 1/2 marathons are my favorite. You need to vary your mileage a bit and introduce a long run once a week that increases gradually. Check out HalHigdon.com for some good training programs. If you want to increase your speed, the old saying is you have to train fast to race fast. I found it almost impossible to do speed work on my own, so for one of my marathons and one of my 1/2's, I found a local group I could do that with once or twice a week (check meetup.com). I generally prefer to run alone, though. As far as diet, you need to get some carbs in you before the longer runs. An 8.5 training pace isn't too bad at all, but you need some speed work, too. I probably do 60% of my training outside, but I use the treadmill so I don't have excuses when the weather is bad. Good luck!
If you feel like the edge of death your heart rate is too damn high!Update: I'm keeping it up. I've now lost 8 lbs.
The eating part wasn't so hard, as I'd already learned how to make those adjustments.
I'm just now getting back to the stage where I feel -good- after running (instead of feeling on the edge of death!).
