In Vegas. About to get married today. Things are going pretty well. No stress whatsoever.
RUN LIKE HELL!!!!
You sitting in a hotel room on POA with sweaty palms and cold feet?
I'm in Vegas, nothing about this place is cold, not even the feet! And they just hauled her off for hair and makeup and I have nothing else to do. Sitting here alone watching the strip.
I always wondered who goes to Vegas to get married.
I've been to a few awesome Vegas weddings. I'll have to post the photos of me dressed as a pimp sometime. (Not kidding. Hahaha.)
How long are you going to be in the room?
Parents live in CA and can't do air travel well or drive as far. Fairly inexpensive to do it here and everything is in one place. Although people were taking pictures in the wedding registration office with the "wedding capital of the world" sign...
Plus, getting to LAS is easy from just about anywhere in the world. It's great for the guests.
I mean I have to shower and get dressed. And she's coming back and taking over the room with the other girls. So I have to head to my parents room in about an hour and get ready there. Wedding in a few hours.
About 15 people including everyone. Small and cozy enough. Farthest guest from Alaska.
Dude. Get out of the room. Get down to a bar. Get a few in you. Chat with the barflies. You don't wanna be sober at the chapel and make a mistake.
There will be liquid courage shots at the chapel. I suck at alcohol and it hits me incredibly hard. I don't know if I should even do the shot then but with how nervous I am I might have to.
Then get a xanax. Ya can't solve this by hanging out in here. We aren't gonna fly to KLAS and save you.
Ha - I was thinking about having a strong drink sent up to his room, but if he's a cheap date, perhaps that's not a good idea. I don't want to be responsible for messing up overdrive's wedding.
BTW overdrive - congrats!!!
Are you doing the Elvis Wedding Chapel? If so go all the way with the $199 special.... Elvis singing Love Me Tender and he king himself taking you and your bride for a ride down the strip in pink Cadillac convertible. You "hopefully" only get married once!!!
Congrats man. Take the strip toward Old Town Las Vegas and there's a little Elvis wedding chapel on the right side of the road.
I remember seeing it each time I've visited.
Dude it would actually be an awesome place to tie the knot IMO! Big day for our buddy @overdrive148.
I got married for the first time at age 51. The whole day I was thinking this is not what I want. I did the fake getting ready to run away as she was walking up the aisle, but I was thinking do I really want to stop and laugh or do I want to keep going?
As the preacher was in the middle of saying, "I now pronounce you husband and wife," I actually felt as if I was making the worst mistake of not only my life but her life.
That lasted about 15 seconds though. I have no regrets and there has been no looking back.
It will be 7 years this June.!!
P.S. I could not talk her into the Elvis wedding, which I thought would be really cool.....
I have missed this little guy....
Give the bride a kiss from POA
Congrats and apologies at the same time. Been engaged twice, married once. Don't know if I'd do it again knowing what I know now, but I can say this will be my ONLY marriage.
Vegas seems like a great place to get married, lots to do, plenty of opportunities to make long lasting memories that (even if you wanted to talk about them with your children one day), you won't be able to remember them enough to do so .
Good luck and congrats. Oh and pics or it didn't happen!
You have enough height there. Jump now!
I suppose it's considered ok with the younger crowd to take selfies during vows these days?
I was married at the L'Amour Chapel (Vegas) back in '89. There was a bar in the parking lot and a delay (the chapel was behind schedule), so I knocked off a pitcher with my future father in law. As they say, that was my first mistake..., but the marriage lasted 22 years and I didn't regret the wedding (though I never heard the end of the drinking thing). Good luck and congratulations!
I went to Vegas 27 years ago to get married. She told me if I lost all my money, she wasn't going to marry me. In spite of my best efforts, I won $7,000 and paid for her ring.
At 7 years you are still walking down the aisle. If you make 20 get back to us with a report.
In excess of 20 years. Marriage has its ups and downs to be certain, but I think on the balance it has been very good for he who is Steingar. Congrats to the OP.
Aren't you missing 4 letters on that last word? You're in Vegas after all....
I'll have you know I was propositioned by a lady of the evening a couple nights ago. Needless to say I declined her offer of acconpanying me to my room...where my fiancee was waiting.
Update: shower complete. Panic ensuing
You two can't share?
I got married two weeks ago. The last hour before go time was terrible. The waiting.... also with the knowledge that literally everyone I know is out there seated in the church...
15 people should not be that bad. We had 220 at ours. It was pretty classic. The band was great, weather held out, everyone is still talking about how much fun they had at the reception. I even made it on stage to belt out a few lines of "you shook me all night long" after everyone was good and liquored up. Of course there were a few hiccups, her crazy aunt gave an unplanned speech about the one time she took a dump in a 5 gallon bucket on my boat, somehow trying to tie this into some form of sentimental story.... we messed up cutting the wedding cake.. life goes on.
Congratulations and good luck!
You prolly don't know that prostitution is illegal in Clark county. She was breaking the law. If you were seen going up to your room with her you would be been arrested. In that case, losing your fiance would be the least of your troubles.
Well there's also the fact that a pushy limo driver wouldn't leave me and a friend alone and insisted we get in his free limo to a strip club for two drinks while waiting for his uber.
The uber driver pulls up and they get into it. Long story short the uber driver pulls a gun to encourage the guy to leave as the limo guy goes to pull him out of his car.
It's not to late to run.
Just have a camera and say your making porn. That's not illegal.
The more you know!
U and I have different definitions of watching the strip

There's Ben & Jerrys or Haagan Dazs shop at the New York. Or head down the strip to the Ultimate M&M store. Ride the tram around the strip to the various hotels.
Anything the kill time.
Vegas Metro has seen it all and heard it all (all the excuses). They know all the girls and drug dealers and where they go to find customers. The desks in the hotels are also wise to it. If you run into a happy-time player or get offered some dope walk the other way (they look for guys walking alone). Otherwise you can find yourself in a cell with other hapless tourists.
