Want to fly again

I get my ticket 12 years ago. 5 years ago I suffered a type B aortic dissection treated with flap fenestration and stent. Multiple CT scans and echocardiograms have showed this to be stable. There is no aneurism. I take 4 BP meds and am normotensive now. My CT surgeon thinks I am good to go!

I have been afraid to try to get my medical renewed. But I want that V-tail Bonanza still.

Should I go for the 3rd class medical, or fly sport pilot, or find something else to do?

I sold my 172 after all this happened... Wish I hadn't!

I live in the Midwest and am willing to travel if there's am AME who can help.

Thanks

Sorry I missed this.
This is a special issuance though at 5 years is when they START to consider letting you go back to the normal pool.

Need:
Op note
All the followup records.
Current Chest CT and Echo (within 90 days prior)
Current status report from Internist/Cardiologist/Surgeon who follows-up with you.

You do want someone to look over EVERYTHING and make sure it's a "go". If the dimensions are right, this might turn into an "issue as eligible" but EVERYTHING has to look right (AO root <4.0 cms, BP well controlled, etc...).
