I just bought a new laptop and of course, the only option was Vista.

When I installed the Golden Eagle Software, the "Update from Internet" activity worked up until the part when it said to close and restart Golden Eagle to for the updates to install. Nothing happened. Everytime I start Golden Eagle now I get a message that my navigation data is out of date, asks me if I want to update from the internet, I say yes, it takes me to the update page where all the files are green and I get a message immediately that the files are ready to be installed and to restart the program - repeat this activity 50 times!

I tried removing the program and reinstalling but notwithstanding after using "uninstall" followed by a detailed search of all directories to remove anything that looks like "flight prep", I'm not sure it did because when I go to re-download it just fires right back up again. Even emptied the recycle bin to see if that's where it was picking it up from.

I know awhile ago Scott was having issues and I believe a few others as well. Any ideas?

I am running Vista and the only thing I have not had work so far was Golden Eagle. The updates would just not work. I then configured it to run in XP mode it runs fine solving that problem.

What did you configure? Vista or Golden Eagle? How did you do that?
Golden Eagle.

Golden Eagle and Windows Vista
Compatibility

Please follow the steps below to properly set up Golden
Eagle FlightPrep® 2007 to run under Windows Vista.

1. Download and install the latest version of Golden Eagle
2007 (Approx 42 M)

2. Clicking on the download “Install Shield” will install
Golden Eagle. Once the software has been installed,
right-click on the “Golden Eagle by FlightPrep®” desktop
shortcut, and select “Properties.”

3. In the “Properties” dialog (see graphic on back), select
“Compatibility,” then set the following settings:

a. Under the “Compatibility” mode section, select “Run
this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP
(Service Pack 2).”

b. Under the “Privilege Level” section, select “Run this
program as administrator.”

c. Select “OK” to confirm your selections and close the
“Properties” dialog.
Double-click on the Golden Eagle 2007 by FlightPrep®
shortcut to launch the application. When the application
launches, you will be asked to confirm access to your
computer. Select “Allow” to run the application.

This solved my issue with no updates being applied

I'll have to remember that when I get a new laptop at some undetermined time in the future. Mine runs XP and I (obviously) don't have this problem. But, someday... I can wait.
