Bro do you even lift
does this seem like a whole lot of everything, but specifically carbs?

I don't eat that many carbs in a week.

It does have six grams of fiber so it is only a net of 72 carbs. :D

I've been on the Atkins plan for a couple of months now; as close to zero carbs and zero sugar as I can get. I've lost 4 gallons of 100ll so far and I thought I'd never say this but...I'm about sick of bacon. I must have ate at least 3 pigs by now.

I'm on a low carb (quasi-Atkins) myself and I've lost 5.5 gallons of 100LL. Started in early April. Hard boiled eggs are my daily breakfast. Meal replacement bar for lunch and moderate dinner. I hit a plateau a few weeks ago and really had to watch what I was consuming and cut out virtually all artificial sweetners (including diet drinks) and started making progress again. That was 8 lbs ago. It isn't easy, but I sure do like the results.

I hope you can beat me. I still have a ways to go to reach my desired goal. o_O

I can actually have FOUR guinnesses to equal that amount of carbs. see, thats good dieting!

Sick of bacon?! Blasphemy!!!!

Mods, please ban this dude.

It's a pain. I've lost quite a bit, 12-14 lbs, but seem to be hovering right around 223-225 now for weeks. Man you do have to eat right?

I am doing the Keto diet, which like Atkins is a low carb diet. I try to keep carb intake below 30g a day. You really wake up to how many carbs are in everyday food when you have to cut it out. Normal recommended daily value is around 350g, before this diet I would guess I may have been pushing 500g per day. In 4 months I have lost over 40 pounds and can't imagine going back.

The problem with these diets is you can only do them for so long. For example, I will refer to the sick of bacon comment. Carbohydrates are neither poison nor are they bad for you. However, like most things they are best consumed in moderation.

Like I said, these diets can only be maintained for so long by most people. Once they're done folks go back to whatever diet and regimen that made them fat in the first place. A far more rational way to loose weight is to minimize portion sizes while undergoing a low impact exercise regimen. Once portions are sufficiently small to engender weight loss they are maintained until the desired weight loss is achieved. Portions can then be increased to levels sufficient to maintain steady state. A balanced diet is far better for you than this Atkins nonsense, and I'll bet cash money is way better for your kidneys.

DON'T SAY THAT! :eek2: NOT EVEN IN JEST!

I respectfully disagree. The first is not approaching it like it is a temporary diet. This is a lifestyle change, removing sugar, bread, pasta, and complex carbohydrates from the menu. I have had no issues, or cravings, or desires to go back. And complex carbohydrates have been linked to numerous health issues, with no real dietary benefit. Numerous other studies have shown the keto diet improves blood sugar levels, cognitive ability, and actually reduces blood cholesterol levels (ironic in a high fat diet). This diet was originally used many years ago for children with epilepsy, as it reduced, or in some cases, eliminated seizure activity.

Now to each their own, this diet isn't for everyone and does require willpower. I fortunately have had ample motivation to make a lifestyle change.

If you can maintain it. That said, a diet with controlled portions can be maintained with the exact same willpower and is far better for you.

I apologize for being disrespectful, but this is simply patent nonsense. Complex carbohydrates are a direct and very efficient energy source. Now, lets try some fun linkages:

Unfortunately most studies of this sort tend to be conducted by their purporters and are chock full of experimental bias.

Now to each their own, this diet isn't for everyone and does require willpower. I fortunately have had ample motivation to make a lifestyle change.

If you had that much willpower you could have simply limited your portion size and undertaken moderate exercise.

This is hard stuff. About a decade ago I lost 9 gallons of 100L and managed to keep it off.
I have lost an additional gallon over the past year, and would like to lose another 7 gallons. This sucks....
I miss not giving a crap about weight.

It is interesting w/ the 100ll comparison. If you are the only one that ever flies your plane, you are effectively increasing your useful load and reducing the internal "Arg! ok what if I leave all the oil in the hangar and take on 3 less gallons?" monologue when doing W&B calcs.

For both my J-3 and RV-4, I either had to limit the passenger weight to less than 150# or fuel volume to stay under gross weight..even with zero baggage. I can now easily carry a 200# passenger, 5 lbs baggage and full fuel in both and still be under gross and within W&B limits.

The only weight limit which is an issue is aerobatic gross weight in the RV-4 as it is 225 pound less than standard gross. There I'm limited to a 120# passenger and only 8-9 gallons of gas. In effect, the RV-4 is a single pilot aerobatic plane.

Well, I have a few incentives to lose weight.
1. My wife and I want to go sky diving, and the local places do not take anyone over 200 on tandem jumps.
2. Health.
3. The two planes I am considering to purchase, would require me to fly with my license and credit card and no bags. So losing weight to carry luggage would be a good idea :D
