Let’s say my plane is signed up on LADD. Is there an easy way for my family to still track me? FlightAware wants $1400/year for a subscription plan to see my own LADD-subscribed airplane. There’s got to be a better option.

(Let’s not have this thread turn into everyone arguing whether or not privacy is important, or even possible. Can we please just stick to the question? Thanks! :D)

So, you asked the Faa to not publish information about your flights and also want a third party to get information about your flights.

It took only one post for the first snarky-*** response, and you did it! Congrats!

You misunderstand LADD. It’s not asking the FAA to not publish the information. The third party still gets the info of LADD-subscribed aircraft from the FAA, they just have an agreement with the FAA to not make it PUBLIC. The third party can, of course, release the info to the owner of the aircraft. That’s not making it public.

As I said, the FlightAware wants $1400 for the privilege. I’m asking if there’s a better option. If you don’t know, STFU.

Just buy yourself a SPOT or Garmin InReach.

    https://www.adsbexchange.com/

Tracks any aircraft equipped with ADS-B out and not affected by LADD.

Note, works best with 1090 equipped aircraft. Not all of their receivers work with 978 ADS-B transmitters, such as the Skybeacon.

Ah yes. I was familiar with adsbexchange, but previously I was unable to find LADD-subscribed planes by tail number. I checked again and it does work now. Thanks!

Sadly, this is POA. It's the way it is.

I remember posting about looking for an ILS approach at an uncontrolled field near my home field here in FL. I got some guy in Ohio posting about how there was one at his home field.
