I recently purchased a Cessna 182, and am finding that using the factory tow bar to push the aircraft back into the hanger by myself seems impossible. Aircraft Spruce sells a tow bar extension, but I am curious if this really helps or if some sort of mechanical tug is really the only option. Any advice?

As a Cessna 182 owner, I find the factory tow bar too short and not enough reach or leverage for turning, or sufficient posture to get enough force to push.

The bar works well:

This bar is excellent, the the release lever is much easier:

If you don't need to pack it along in the airplane, get the Bracket TH6, plenty long, then when you want to use a tug, (or, you get too old to feel like pushing by hand!),you've got the bar for it.

@Katamarino is there still a "free" 182 towbar by the side of a dirt strip in Canada somewhere?
(Did anyone ever claim it?)
:)

10/10 buy the red Bogert bar above. Hands down the best towbar in the game.
