Too much airplane for you

Few pilot things have impressed me as much as a KC-135 flying tight patterns at MacDill. I've seen 172's go wider.
Yea they get them in tight places.

I remember flying an approach to Natchez, Mississippi in a C-130. We needed to get below the clouds for a low-level search mission for a missing F-111. When we got down to MDA, the pilot kept on descending, runway in sight... but the asphalt would never support the weight of the airplane if we landed. We touched down, he accelerated to takeoff again, and as I looked over at him, I could see two guys in the FBO window with their jaws hitting the ground.

I'm still telling the story. I wonder if those guys are, too. Early 1970s.

I was here when that happened. Hilarous. CENTCOM Commander General Mattis was on board.

It's not totally shocking that happened. Peter O Knight is directly under the approach to MacDill, the runways are aligned, and both airfields are on a peninsula.
