I have the above iPad, with ForeFight on it, along with a windshield mount. On a clear, bright day, even with the screen brightness turned up all the way, I can barely see the screen. My CFI's iPad is clearly visible to me. I looked for hoods on Amazon but didn't come up with anything useful.

I'm hoping someone here might have found a solution for this issue.

Matte screen protector as already mentioned. Check your settings to verify your iPad is set to maximum brightness. You didn't mention which iPad your CFI is using. Find out and look up the the nits rating. The brightness of a iPad Pro is 1000 nits. Yours may be 500 nits. A brighter display will drown out most glare. If the positioning shows your reflection avoid light colored shirts. Black just about eliminates a reflected image.

People have already mentioned matte screen protectors. I’ve been using this Paperfeel offering on my Mini for almost 3 years now. Nothing is perfect in this genre, but in the 14+ years I’ve been flying with an iPad, it’s the best I’ve come across. And if you write with a Pencil or clone, it makes it feel much more natural.

not for mini's. I cringe at the thought of an 11in ipad in a GA bug smasher.
I didn’t go through the whole website, but the last time I did about a year ago, they had ArmorGlas for all sizes of Istuff

Another obvious variable is location. Every plane is different, but some spots will have more ambient light than others. Lower is generally better.

They have a list of 54 products suitable for Minis since Gen4. including the anti-glare screen. This one's not bad, but I generally don't see much reason to buy at their price point, like their $140 mountable case (that's just the cradle, not including attacking it to the airplane). But that may be because I fly multiple airplanes with different mounting solutions.

Flying a rental or is this a permanent "temporary" mount?
Some place you can hang it under the instrument panel? My android pad works better down between my knees.

As a student, I never used an ipad until x/c solo flying into a class C. Head up and outside.

I have a question, what do believe people used to do when they used sectional charts? Windshield mount?

About every glare or mounting question is from a pilot attempting to use an IPad as a primary navigation device. That’s not what it for.

We have GPSs in each of the planes. They are what I use for navigation.

I have a matte screen protector on order. Thanks for the tip about nits. Mine is 500. That's the difference.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Just got back from a lesson this morning. The iPad worked great, and the screen was plenty bright. I had it oriented towards me more than on Saturday's flight.
I was afraid before the flight that I would need to get another iPad, but I don't. I'll install the matt screen when it comes.

Thanks for all the help.
