In this thread it's ok to name drop. Tell us who you've met. I'll start but it's a tad unfair as I flew corporate and had a few celebrities in on my manifests. Here they are in no particular order:

Reese Witherspoon, Dan Quayle, Cheech (Not Chong), Jenifer Lopez, James Caan, Nichole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban, (very next flight) Leonardo DiCaprio and his fling Kelly Rohrbach (omg hot), Lisa Kudrow, Michael J. Fox (DF), George Lucas twice (DF), Al Gore (DF), Harrison Ford (DF), Al Sharpton (DF), Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell,

    *DF = 'didn't fly'

That's all I can think of for now. Let's hear what y'all got!

Did you tell Harrison Ford to keep it between the lines?

I met Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars last summer in Vegas, if you consider him famous.

You had Cheech, I met Chong (and daughter) on a helicopter shuttle to Catalina Island. Then, I met Cheech at a charity event years later (nice guy).

Alice Cooper (so odd looking, so very normal to converse with), Angie Harmon (nice), John O'Hurley, Bob Bondurant (hot laps in a Cobra with Bob driving!), Carroll Shelby.

    Tons of political types.

Met Chuck Norris on a Legend Airlines flight to LA. Seemed nice enough, except he clipped his nails and left them on the seat in a neat little stack.

I had Red Skelton ask for my mike in the gate one stormy night at ORD. He proceeded to do a routine in the gate and had a semi-circle of children surrounding him. Best delay ever.

Arthur Godfrey, John D Rockefeller, (jr) Way back when I was a kid doing the line boy thing at Teterboro I'd probably name others if they meant anything to me at the time.

I have met literally hundreds of recognizable A-List to P-List (political) names from my entertainment and political career over the years...but I never got star struck cuz I quickly learned working behind the scenes that celebrities are regular people just with higher profile jobs...and just like the general population there are super nice celebrities, down to earth celebrities, and complete Delta Bravo celebrities.

It is fun to be in the "bubble" and see people when they do not have their public face on, but I could care less about autographs and selfies.

My highlight though was getting flipped the bird by Walter Cronkite (it was in jest).

Just saw Roger Staubach at the Admiral's Club at LGA Thursday.

A while ago Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in Oakland, and Jared (subway guy) on a flight to Indianapolis before he went to jail. In Indy I also met Hall and Oates but that was at the hotel bar, so not sure if that counts for this thread.

Brooke Shields - we were Princeton classmates.
Clint Eastwood - Rode with him in Warner Brothers' G5 from Monterey to Burbank back in 1998 or so.
Tons of Denver Broncos players and coaches, including Mike Shanahan, John Elway, Terrell Davis. A friend of mine used to work for them and got me into their 1996 Christmas party. I've also met Pat Bowlen (owner) and Peyton Manning.
Joe Montana, Roger Craig and John York (owner of the 49ers).
Terry Donahue (former UCLA football coach). He and my dad are best friends and I play golf with him a couple times a year.
Cindy Crawford - ran into her at a convenience store in Cabo last year. Still HOT.
Steve Jobs and Bill Gates - met them at tech events.
Warren Buffet - met him at my home airport, Centennial. His NetJet was there for a fuel stop.
Tommy Lee and Heather Locklear, back when they were still married. We were staying at the same resort and hung out a little.
Michael Phelps - played 9 holes of golf with him in Cabo a couple years ago.

Might be more but that's all I can think of now.

Mine are mostly OU-related: Bob Stoops, Toby Kieth, James Garner. Several OU athletes that went pro, including the Boz. Never cared a lick about their celebrity status or getting their autograph. The only autograph I've ever received was from Lou Holtz, which was addressed to me when my father had dinner with him one evening.

Never understood being "star-struck". I've never given a second thought to someone because they were famous, and wouldn't go out of my way to see a celebrity. However, there are certainly celebrities I wouldn't mind having some beers with because they seem like genuinely nice people.

More politicians than anyone should ever have to meet. Two had been Presidents (Nixon and Carter), and one would later become the President (Trump). I also met Sarah Palin in a hotel elevator years ago. She hugged me. Her bodyguards weren't happy.

Many musicians. Some of the more well-known ones include Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Peter Yarrow, Paul Stookey, Mary Travers, Doc Watson, Harry Chapin, Tom Chapin, Abigail and Lily Chapin (Tom's daughters), John Wallace, and many others.

Actors: Robert DeNiro and Kelsey Grammar.

Sports figures: Tom Seaver, Pelé, Giorgio Chinaglia, Felix Millan, and Len Berman (sportscaster).

Other interesting folks: Carl Sagan, Daymond John, Eldridge Cleaver, Don Imus, Al Sharpton.

I was Steven Spielberg's bodyguard for about 10 days. It was when they filmed the movie "Always". Holly Hunter, John Goodman, & Richard Dreyfus were also in the movie so I got to hang around with them too.

Spielberg was a very normal person. When he relaxed in his trailer on set he read gun & hunting magazines. He was very easy to work for.

It was a fun 10 days. I even got to wrestle a guy to the ground that refused to leave him alone. Spielberg was impressed.

I was much younger & in better shape in those days. I was a cop at the time & that's how I got the gig.

Most of the famous folks I've come in contact, I didn't know who they were...

Eric Bloom: Blue Oyster Cult was playing at a popular bar in Jax, FL. I was waiting for my date outside the ladies room when this fellow strikes up a conversation. He eventually asked me what my favorite BOC song was. I confessed that I only knew the name of one song, Veteran of a Thousand Psychic Wars. About that time my date came out and off we went. Sometime in the middle of the concert, the lead singer says, "About this time we normally play X, but we've had a request to play Veteran of a Thousand Psychic Wars. What do you want to hear?" The crowd voted for Veteran. That's when I realized who I had been chatting with. Doh!!

Charlie Daniels: I was in Bagram walking back from the BX cutting through a parking lot that they had closed a couple days ago to build a stage. I happened to be walking almost step by step behind an older civilian and a military guy. The military guy says, "...and this is the stage that we built for you." That was all I heard. I didn't realize until later that night that the older fellow wearing a Charlie Daniels Band jacket was in fact Charlie Daniels. Doh!!

(Can't remember the name, female WWE wrestler): Once again, in Bagram, I was waiting in line at the post office. This rather short was well muscled female comes up to me and says, "Hi, I'm X." Me: "Uh, hi, I'm Andy. How are you?" She realized I wasn't a wrestling fan and moved on to a soldier on up the line.

Artimus Pyle: Getting gas at Jax Beach. This raggy looking guy starts complimenting my bike ('87 Ninja 600). Tells me to be careful because there's a lot of crazy bastards driving on the road. He leaves the gas station going the wrong way on a split highway. Station attendant says, "Do you know who that was?" "Uh, no??" "That was the drummer for Lynyrd Skynrd."

Flew several comedians around Afghanistan: Peter Gray, Shawn Lee Pelofsky are the two I can find in my logbook. (Had Shawn in the jumpseat, said she was "scared ****less of flying" and "we had balls of steel for doing this for a living")

James Megallas: He was promoting his book, "All the way to Berlin" (or something similar). We invited him up to the jumpseat. Great guy!! John Ratzenberger played him in "A Bridge Too Far." He's the most decorated person in the 82nd Airborne and is currently being considered for the Medal of Honor. The dude just turned 100 last month and is still kicking!

Barbara Starr: Took her to a FOB in Afghanistan. What an arrogant bitch. She put soldiers lives in danger and was promptly sent out of the country. Don't think she's even been back.

    And the miss:

Vice President Bush: I worked for the Republicans when I was in high school. Our department was invited to a dinner and reception with George Bush. We were all stoked. Unfortunately, I had reservations to go on trip to Europe that night so I had to give my regrets. To add insult to injury, that just happened to be the day of the air traffic controllers strike and my flight was delayed 24 hours. I could have went!!

EDIT: Almost forgot... Chris Heben, author. He thinks I'm a total stud bush pilot. :frown2: vvvvvv

keeping this thread aviation related, I'm actually surprised I don't see more famous folks than I do flying in and out of "fancy" FBOs. Usually I get the scoop from the desk person that I just missed so-and-so coming or going.

I do see and work with a lot of folks who are quite recognizable in GA circles, but that's pretty easy to do in a tight-knit community of ours. Then of course living in DC area you have the political types. Is not like I'm begging the secretary of transportation for his or her autograph (actually I already have it in my wallet and you do too).

I did get an opportunity to fly the Lt. Gov of Virginia around one summer during his campaign for governor. That was pretty fun (was a real nice, down to earth sort of guy who was very appreciative of small GA) but in the other hand made me realize I'm glad I didn't pursue a political career--it's a tough job. He did pretty well for himself, and nearly got a four year relocation to the Naval Observatory of it weren't for a few pesky rust-belt voters.

True story: I once mistook Kate Hudson for a prostitute in an upscale Amsterdam Hotel. My wife and I still chuckle over that one.

I used to work at a 5-star resort as a room service waiter (basically so I could golf for free) when I first moved to Phoenix. PIR racetrack was local to the resort, as was one of the big name concert venues. Plus the resort was just a well known "celebrity" getaway, much like a couple of the resorts in Palm Springs are. I met so many NASCAR/INDY drivers, RocknRoll/Country music stars, national politicians, and many TV/Movie stars to even begin to try to name them all.

I would never ask for anything from any of them... but many would give me back stage passes for their shows, or let me hang out in the pits with them at the races, or hang out on their movie/film locations. The coolest "Aviation celebrities" I ever got to hang with for the day was Sean Tucker and Patty Wagstaff. That was one awesome experience!

Already have over 300 posts? I like you style! I forgot Patty Wagstaff, but I didn't really 'meet' her like you did. I was just at an air show and shook her hand with the masses.

Same thing happened to us a few years ago when we parked next to the chartered Air Canada Airbus transporting the Capitals. After the game we beat them back to DC too. Raleigh is always a good place to watch your favorite visiting team beat the hurricanes at a fraction of the price of buying tickets in virtual every other facility.

I've done the charter thing in Socal and have had a number of people onboard my flights at the airline, but the coolest thing I've seen/done is get to hold the Stanley Cup.

The owner of the winning team hangared his Gulfstream next to the plane I was flying at the time, and I ended up being in the right place at the right time. I'm not even a huge hockey fan, but it was still really cool for me.

    I met your mom....

For those from the New Orleans rock scene, I've been on the Cowboy Mouth bus and met Fred the lead singer/drummer.
For those nerdy cellists on the board, I met Janos Starker twice before he passed. One was an audition.
For those who count seeing people film a movie across the street, I saw Will Smith film Pursuit of Happyness.
For those who count Jim Harbaugh as famous, I met him when he was QB of the Bears.

I've met a lot of the State politicians including the last two governors, and I can claim drinking buddy status with Kevin Johnson, former Kings guard and mayor of Sacramento. As well as few former members of the bands Tesla and Oleander.

Oh, and one of my regular bike riding routes, when I lived there, was past Robin Williams' house in Napa. I've seen him driving around in the hills a few times in his open top Porsche.

Dan Quayle - Motorcade drove through my job site and he stopped in to buy burgers for his security team at the local restaurant as I was standing at the register. Seemed like a nice guy and did right by his security team.

Randy White - He was looking to buy horses and he stepped in front of me as I was riding through the paddock, I almost took out a Dallas Cowboy... ;) .so close! He was a really nice guy, very friendly and treated everyone great.

Scott Van Pelt, ESPN - I was paying for fuel at KGED when he walked in. He was mobbed by tournament baseball players (8-10 yr olds) that poured out of the restaurant. He took the time to take photos with each group that came out. Class act....especially since he was on vacation.

Stevie Ray Vaughan - At a truck stop while getting fuel.

I went to school with Jack Ruby. Just a high school student, not the guy that shot Oswald.

I worked for George Bush. The used car salesman, not the president.

I once dated Henry Winklers cousins soon to be former wife.

The most memorable folks I met was Tom Laundry, Red Cashion and Roger Staubach.

Sean was staying at the resort and invited me to hang out with him. He's the one who introduced me to Patty, then her husband flew in, and then she introduced me to him. Real nice guy. I was in the masses when I arrived at the air show. I saw Sean and he motioned me over to crawl under the tape barrier. A couple security guys came over to me and Sean came over to them and said "he's cool, he's with me". I even got to hang out in the show/announcers tower and listen to the communications between the performers. Just an awesome day all around.

I'm talking to a gentleman in church one Sunday and he says: "I used to go to Junior High School with Lee Harvey Oswald. He was the most nondescript, invisible guy I ever met."

Lee got over that in a hurry.
