The TSA Pokey, Pokey

Chicago TSA took longer than Chicago Immigration yesterday.

WIth Global Entry that's a pretty common occurance at ORD, JFK, LAX, DFW, IAD, MIA.... and other airports that have the kiosks

I saw those kiosks-maybe saw one or two people use them.

Timely - I'm on AA575 LGA-DFW right now. TSA directed me over to the Nude-O-Scope, acted all put-out that I opted-out. The skilled, professional TSA Security Expert asked me why, and I opined that I did not trust that they were legitimately safe devices, having not been validly tested, and she told me, "They are so safe."

Whatever.

So I got to stand around for five minutes (the mandatory cool-your-jets period, I think), then got a professionally-conducted feel-up (this guy was polite and efficient).

What a joke.

PS - La Guardia is a real dump!

You were that close and didn't come to Wings?

I had actually made a rental car reservation, to try and make a surprise appearance, but logistics did not allow it. Chris and Kacy (nephew and fiancee) leave NYC at 4:30 AM Monday in a rental truck, and there was a staggering volume of work to be done to get the apartment packed up for the move. Fact is, I just could not leave them to it (well, guess I could have done, but he's like a son to me, and I am way too proud of who he is and what he has accomplished not to help).

Nephew's father is a non-participant in his son's and daughter's life by choice (father's choice), and CJane and I have had the privilege of participating in a modest way in helping Chris along since he moved here from Australia. Honors grad from the University of Texas, JD from NYU, clerking for a federal judge in Houston, and his fiancee is off to med school next month.

They've been living in a 4th-floor slum apartment (I mean, the neighborhood is like a stereotype New York City mean-street-scape), doing what they had to do to get by. I just had to do something.

I swear I'll get there... some day!

Yes, it did. And the Immigration officer was a very pleasant young lady. TSA? Well, they're the TSA. :D

I'll sign up for that next year when I get my new passport. Immigration was still faster than TSA without it.
