For those of you who have never had the pleasure of using a Jetboil camping stove, you need to buy one. The secret to how it works is a built in heat sink in the bottom of the cup (or pots and pans sold seperately), that heats up faster than anything I've ever seen.

I bought one for my geology field trips as an early morning time saver. It goes from Zero to fresh brewed coffee in under 5 minutes. It takes about 90 seconds to heat water to about 180 deg. You can buy them with a French press for making coffee or buy it seperately.

They're small and light enough to take backpacking. Out in the field, it's almost like having a microwave oven with you. I've never seen anything faster.

My little MRS camp stove weighs nothing, burns white gas, kerosine or gasoline, and has wired consistently for over a quarter century. Won't be needing a new one, sorry.

I use an ancient Coleman two-burner stove. I love the smell of naphtha in the morning...

When I was a kid I had a L'il Injun Scout Cookstove. It came apart and fit into a can the size of a tobacco can. I found one on Ebay a few years ago and bought it. Boy, is it slow, and there are stories of them exploding. So it's a keepsake more than anything else.

Probably not very politically correct anymore, either. And the lighting wick is made of asbestos.

In the time it took you to post this, I made another pot of fresh brewed coffee.

My MSR Whisperlight (which I used heavily when I was a Boy Scout leader over 20 years ago) worked great. The fuel bottle (full of fuel) weighed far more than the stove.

We've been using a JetBoil to make coffee at Oshksoh (along with the Aeropress) for years.
Works great.

I have a JetBoil for backpacking and it is great. I have the French press, but I switched to the Starbuck Via packets, due to clean up issues. For car camping I have one of those Coleman grill/stoves (which I love, because it can grill). For overnight camping with the plane, I will often just throw in my backpacking gear. It depends how far I have to haul the gear, once I get there.

Soda can hobo stoves are where it is at. Free to get, cheap to fuel.

Motorhome comes with cook and all the kitchen power tools including microwave.

If you can fit that on your backpack and hump it into the mountians or stuff it in the back seat of a 172, you might have a point.

If you can pack a trailer with loaded jeep, boat, and all the camp gear, and get it to the lake in an aircraft I want to see it.

And have a beer while doing it :)
