I hope she meant "since WWII". You really need to think about what you are saying before you say it. My parents' generation might have worded that a bit differently (M-I-L landed on Omaha Beach on D+1, uncle, mom's B-I-L, was a co-pilot on B-17s out of England at the end of the war, another uncle, dad's brother, served on a destroyer in the Pacific, dad was a Navy corpsman).
