It's all good. I'm the one who created FlightsForBites.com to aid pilots finding restaurants easily accessible from GA airports. The whole point of the site is to capture and share local knowledge of which a ton has been shared on this thread. I've been adding the restaurants mentioned here that are not already on the site. When someone mentions a restaurant at Lufkin, to an east coaster, when I search for the airports in Lufkin, I don't know what they mean. In NC, we have many great BBQ joints accessible, in some cases, by private grass strips. So, I cannot assume the main airport is what people are referencing.
For those interested, a former student and me are headed to CLL and Gate 12 next Friday for lunch. Perhaps a impromptu meet-up?
Is it any bigger than before? It seemed a bit small for typical weekend traffic plus a meet-up like this when we went to the old one.
Nope! You may be thinking of Llano, they always had a few. We've always had one. It used to be an old Mercury, but the city got a new Silverado Crew Cab a few years ago. The previous manager wouldn't let anyone use it after hours, but the current manager does. Rumors are that she's leaving though, so we'll see.
Yeah, the airport managers have let me decorate the terminal the way I want! Before I put up my photos, they had cut photo out of an old calendar, put them in frames that didn't fit, and they had all faded to blue!
I've got some personal stuff that's got me tied up until at least the end of next week. Maybe after that I can put a little more energy into getting something going, unless someone else wants to be point.
The 4th I am already committed to an events in Gainesville (Airplanes and Coffee) and EAA661’s meeting in Denton. The latter will have a member of ATC sharing his insights and wisdom. Folks in this thread are invited to those events if you’re so inclined.
Not recommending it for this meetup because it is not centrally located, but someone else is giving it another shot in the Stinson terminal. The Trailblazer Cafe. https://sites.google.com/ssfservices.biz/trailblazercafe/home https://sanantonioreport.org/trailblazer-cafe-stinson-airport-southside-san-antonio/
How about March 18? Far enough out, weather should be a little warmer, and weekend after daylight saving time started. I don’t know my March schedule yet but would be nice to make it…whatever city we decide on. I like LBX. The ramp is large enough, the restaurant is large enough and you eat just a few steps from where you parked. Cheap self serve fuel. If you eat at the restaurant, you get full serve fuel for .20 off per gallon. Getting full serve fuel while you eat is no-brainer. Lots to offer at LBX, to include great seafood options on the menu. https://www.runwaycafetx.com/ I like T82 but the Diner restaurant gets packed with the local and normal fly-in crowd. If a bunch of us fly in addition to the others, it will be a long wait to eat. Makes it tough to visit and talk airplanes as well.
Guess I missed that request in the thread. I thought I saw someone else suggest LBX and was just supporting that. I don’t have any airport to offer that’s centrally located. I’ve only ate at LBX and T82.

Sounds great. I went to the website but I didn’t find much info. Is it a morning coffee or noon lunch thing?
I have 12 O'clock on Saturday, 18 March at the Hard 8 in Stephenville on my calendar. For a rare change, I will be able to make it. Is anyone else coming?
I will be there with my POA shirt on Planning to land around 11:30. I fly a Red and White Piper Saratoga.
Probably not on my end. Have plans Saturday evening, and I’ve been on the road all week. What’s the weather forecast?
Looks like I'll be able to make it, and forecast is currently VFR. Where/when are we actually meeting? At the FBO?
