Testing helmets

lol ... first thought that comes to mind is Bill Engval's "Here's your sign" routine"
----- snip -------
I was watching one of those animal shows on the Discovery Channel, there was a guy
inventing a shark bite suit. There's only one way to test that.

"Alright Jimmy, you got that shark suit on, it looks good... They want you to jump
into this pool of sharks, and you tell us if it hurts when they bite you."

"Well allright....hold my sign, I don't wanna loose it"

impressive video, but im not sure im buying it as unedited.

the biggest difference between a $50 dollar helmet and a $1,000 is weight, comfort and noise. ECE, DOT, and SNELL standards are just that, standards.

And SNELL keeps getting tighter

I just thought the video was funny. Shark helmets are supposed to be really good (not Snell, but they meet the European standards). Never tried on myself, but I know a couple racers who swear by them.

Safe to do that, maybe but it would still hurt!

Reminds me, I'm going to have to replace my Bell soonish

LOL I wonder why they did not adjust them to have their heads at the same elevation. Makes me tend to agree with the poster that called "edited". Though it looks real enough. Personally, there is no way I would put that strain on my neck. But then, I have been seeing chiropractors regularly for the past 40 years.

I wear a Shoei, and have been for many decades. I tried to buy a cheap helmet at the Iron Pony once, and it sits in my basement unused. I wish I could wear something cheaper, but I can't. To show how cheap I am, my Shoei helmet is emblazoned with the word "Suzuki" even though I ride a Honda. At least the helmet is read and matches the bike.

Mine is a SNELL 2005, and it "dies" in a couple years.

However NASA requires eye pro so my helmet would need goggles added, probably better off just going the full Stig and getting a full faced.

You go inside the cage.
Cage goes in the water.
You go in the water.
Shark's in the water.
Our shark.

I've never worn anything but full-faced and never will.

I wanted an open face when I was tracking a car with an airbag

Now I am not and there are advantages for for fire and debris protection.

I am also not buying to to ride a motorcycle either
