Taking the IR Written tomorrow

This is it.
I tired to schedule for last week, but they were full.
I've been at it for WAY to long, notice my avatar...

I was planing on taking the checkride by the end of the month but the old Cessna 210 I'm flying has gear issues, (I know, these are common).

So, hopefully early December.

Logbook
Cash
AOPA card
ID
2 pencils
1 lucky pan
E6B
Calculator with erasable memory
Water and something to snack if the tester will allow

Am I forgetting anything?

Make sure that logbook has an endorsement for you to take the exam in it.

Good luck!

Good luck. Brush up on icing and GPS questions if you have time.

Big item -- the FAA added a bunch of questions on those this year, and a lot of test prep question banks don't have them unless they were recently updated.

I talked with a guy from PIC about a week ago. He suggested that the information in the written is of little utility after the exam. Was he exagerrating?

The icing questions were making their way into the written when I took it in October of last year. They're getting serious about a real hazard to flying in the clouds in winter.

Good luck with the test.

Maybe a little, but since passing the exam is necessary to get the rating, you have to get through it.

Thanks for the wishes everyone!

Test was HARD!
I got 92%

There were probably 10 questions I've never seen before.
As suggested - mainly GPS and Ice.
ASA used to have an addendum to the questions on their web site, about 20 questions about ice & GPS (I guess its on the 2012 book).

Maybe one of them was in the test.

Figure 152 was very popular (GPS approach).

I messed an altimeter question because I thought the FAA is trying to trick me with the wording (Local instead of Reported).

I messed up a "runway hold sign" for the same reason.
That one was embarrassing.

Not super pleased, considering I spent way too much time studying.

For the CPL - no more then a month studying.

Now for the Oral and Checkride prep!

Congratulations :)and thanks for the update.

How long is your written good for?

Thanks!

I believe its good until 11/31/2013.

I'm thinking about taking the CFII test now since I'm hopping to be there in less then 2 years.
Maybe after I get my IR ticket.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a 92 on the written. You know the information and just got hung up on the wording of a couple of the questions. Great job and good luck with the remaining portions!

What training materials did you use? A 92 sounds great!
