I had a question. A cfi friend of mine logs pic time when he goes on "solo" cross countries with commercial students rated in that aircraft. What would he log the time as for the student then? Solo or dual given? Does he have to put his cert# and exp in the students logbook if he puts it as solo time for the student ? I am very confused by this. Thanks!

He would log it as dual given under 61.129(b)4 which authorizes supervised solo for commercial students.

It definitely wouldn't be solo as the CFI is in the plane.

It's not dual given, either. It's dual received.
