My Stratus gave up the ghost last flight. I really could have used it as there was a line of thunderstorms on my way home.

I had heard there were some other similar problems from reading this forum, so I thought I'd ask if anyone else had a aimilar problem and what it might have cost to repair.

The power jack on the back of the unit broke loose and will no longer accept the cord. I sent it back to Sporty's for repair. It is a little over a year old. Anyone have any information on costs and Sporty's customer service?

No idea about Sporty's. Had the same problem and Stratus replaced for free even though it was over a year old.

Now might be a good time to upgrade to the stratus 2 if you can make a deal with sportys ,just a thought .

Is this a common problem with them?

Dunno but Stratus was very good about quickly replacing the unit after I sent the failed unit in. The replacement unit looks like it has a better case fit on the connector and I doubt if it will fail like the first one did. I picked up a Stratus II so I have a back-up now.

As a side note - I was happy to do business with Stratus when buying the II - they did the right thing with replacement of the original item.

Well, that is certainly nice. Sporty's is sending out a refurbished unit at no charge.

That is absolutely terrific customer service for both Sporty's and Stratus.

Contact Appreo's office. I spoke with them about long term support of the Stratus 1 now that Stratus 2 was announced and they are very committed to long term support.
