I have a rifle match in St. Louis (northwest of the Wright City) this coming weekend. I am looking for suggestions on a field that would have rental cars (Turo is fine) and options for a hangar from Friday through Monday. Thanks in advance.

Spirit (KSUS) would make the most sense. There are several FBOs to choose from. Columbia is actually an option for way out there (you have a rifle match well west of STL!).

Thanks, that's what I am planning on. The range is definitely closer to SUS than COU/FTT. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any other options. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate for a Friday pm arrival/Monday am departure. Reading comments on ForeFlight, it seems that Millionaire is the best option for an FBO and hangar service....no?

I have no idea about hangaring. Back when I was in a club with a plane at Spirit we used Millionaire and Aero Charter (whoever gave us the best fuel price at any time). They both were very good service.

I called Millionaire and they said they might have hangar space but I will need to call closer to departure...not a deal breaker. They were very helpful with rental car arrangements. Thank you for your input.

I routinely fly to KSUS. MillionAir has been able to get me a reasonably priced rental car every time. You might consider renting directly from them rather than a major rental outfit (that's what I do; I think it's their in-house cars they rent on behalf of FBO?). Sometimes they get me into a full size for as little as $35 a day.

Also, I might be at SUS this weekend so if you see a white Arrow with black/gray trim parked on the ramp with a guy who looks like he doesn't know what he's doing and doesn't know how to fly, that's me. Say hi!

EDIT: Only downside to SUS is you're going to pay full price for gas... But given the consistently good service I've gotten, I'm fine w/it.

SUS is likely your best option. Rental cars there too. Creve Coeur isn’t far away, and cheap gas, no ramp fees and rental cars last I checked.

I’m pretty sure I know where you are shooting. There is a private field a few miles away. You will pass it on the way there. But I have no idea if they allow transient folks to stay. Plus, there aren’t hotels or cars to rent either.

I am obligated on any thread about St Louis to tell you it's a sucky town.

I don't care for their controllers and their sports teams are the spawn of Satan.

As you were

When I had to work in St. Louis, I flew into Creve Coeur (1H0). Nice, small field with some interesting aircraft. Never had a problem arranging for a rental car through the FBO.

When I had work at Scott AFB, I flew into MidAmerica (BLV).

Spirit (SUS) for convenience, Creve Coeur (1H0) for cool factor and pattern chaos. Sunday lunch at Creve Coeur is good if you have the time. Don't know if it will be affected by the holiday or not, tho.

Nauga,
brushing up on his right break

Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions. Unfortunately, my plane will not be out of the avionics shop in time to make the trip. :( I'll have withdraw from the competition this year.
