SR 71 Cockpit Checkout

Nice! And very well explained.

Some of the uncommon features that I found interesting were the starter fluid, the map projector, and the laser sheet for situational awareness. The laser sheet drew a line across the panel, but it wasn't clear to me whether it indicated an artificial horizon, or whether it rotated the other way, when pitching and rolling.

I also thought the periscope was interesting, for looking at the engines and to see if contrails were being made. Is this a feature found on other planes as well?

Periscopes are pretty much limited to high speed spy planes flying over Cold War adversaries with itchy trigger fingers.

The Spirit of St Louis that Lindbergh flew had a periscope since there wasn't a forward windshield.
