Hey all,

I don't post much here anymore but I still read the posts on POA forum, but wanted to give you an update on my flight training.

I've been a member of my local EAA chapter for a couple years now and gone on some flyouts.

I even introduced a friend who was not into aviation to my local chapter and she participated in some flyouts as a passenger. Now she is discussing flight school in the future!

These events encouraged me to get back into the cockpit and restart training.

So last January, I decided to continue my sport pilot training and found a local flight school in my area that has sport pilot.

I took a discovery flight with them, forgotten how much I missed it and still had the bug. Decided then and there to restart training.

I try to fly 2 or 3 times per week or at least 6 to 8 times per month with some lessons cancelled due to weather. Sometimes I scheduled lessons before I head straight to work. I have been working on landings for the vast majority of my presolo training.

I gotten a new student pilot certificate (the permanent card since my paper certificate expired long ago), passed my sport pilot written test last month, and just a couple days ago I finally had my first solo flight! Been waiting forever for that moment!

Next phase includes more solo flying, solo cross country, and hopefully preparing for the checkride later this summer!

Congratulations! The first solo is a wonderful feeling. What are you training in?

Good job! Isn’t it terrific how great the airplane flies without that dead weight in the other seat?
Yep!

I did notice better performance with the airplane without my CFI in the right seat. I was a bit nervous but once I took off, I got excited and couldn't believe this is happening for real.

Well Done. I still remember my first solo back 1969 and even the shirt they cut the tail off to post on the wall.

Thank you everyone!

If I have any flight training questions, I may start posting again on POA.

Congrats your questions are always welcome

Congrats! Your first solo is one of life's most memorable moments!

Now don't take your eye off the ball. Keep going to the checkride!
