Sport Pilot CFI Under Mosaic

No instrument training, and was (likely illegally) soloed and took my checkride in an A22 Valor, which was VH>87kts.

Unfortunately, it seems some CFIs don't realize it's a requirement for SP. Mine didn't until I showed it to him, and then he had an "Uh-oh" moment thinking about all the students he'd previously trained without it.

Did he pull that requirement out of the PTS, or from an orifice from which things should not be pulled?

Beats me. I haven’t looked at the PTS in years, but the training is part of the requirements for solo XC. I don’t know what prompted the DPE, but I had to put on the foggles and demonstrate unusual attitude recovery.

Based on a quick peek at the PTS this morning, I’d say he pulled it from an orifice from which things should not be pulled.

Can’t you use Basic Med?

No. And I’m not about to take the risk of applying for a medical and potentially have the door to flying closed forever.
