Speaking of fuel pumps…

It's through the paint along the edges and the metal is starting to get cut. As a mechanic I have seen damaged mount tubing due to that.

A good epoxy or urethane paint is actually harder for a ziptie to grind through than the metal.

I have a few zip ties, but I put down several wraps of electrical tape first. So far that seems to work pretty well.

Another thing that needs fixing is this:

That free end of the hose clamp is chomping at that expensive steering bungee boot every time the bungee moves. It also looks like the clamp might not be clamping the boot in place. Some adjustments are in order, and that free end should be bent down flat against the rest of the clamp band.

Thank you. Is that all the clamp is for, to just hold the boot? I don’t touch anything with my tools that I’m not familiar with and never questioned it either (should have).

Yup. It just holds the boot tight to the bungee to prevent smoke or CO or fire entry to the cabin.

That works well and I’ll do the same in a pinch. I prefer adel clamps, but it’s not always feasible.

I really like these guys. I have them and use them.

Exactly. Example:

That particular spot has very tight access making it tough to place an Adel clamp and get a tool on it, but a little tape and a few zip ties work okay. Tape to protect the engine mount from the tie, and a tie used as a spacer to prevent the wire braids from chafing against one another.
