Ugh. I'm glad I live in the middle of nowhere.

BTW, Avare rocks especially considering the cost.

Reading the text of the TFR's I think you are referring to. It's easy. File, Get flight following, have fun.

Of course, you need to launch from and return to an airport outside the 10NM 'core' as described in bullet point B.

Text of the operating rulez for this TFR begins now:
___________________________________________________________________________________
No pilots may operate an aircraft in the areas covered by this NOTAM (except as described).
Except as specified below and/or unless authorized by ATC in consultation with the air traffic security coordinator via the domestic events network (DEN):

A. All aircraft operations within the 10 NMR area(s) listed above, known as the inner core(s), are prohibited except for: Approved law enforcement, military aircraft directly supporting the United States Secret Service (USSS) and the office of the President of the United States, approved air ambulance flights, and regularly scheduled commercial passenger and all-cargo carriers operating under one of the following TSA-Approved standard security programs/procedures: aircraft operator standard security program (AOSSP), full all-cargo aircraft operator standard security program (FACAOSSP), model security program (MSP), twelve five standard security program (TFSSP) all cargo, or all-cargo international security procedure (ACISP) and are arriving into and/or departing from 14 cfr part 139 airports. All emergency/life saving flight (medical/law enforcement/firefighting) operations must coordinate with ATC prior to their departure at 858-537-5900 to avoid potential delays.

B. For operations within the airspace between the 10 nmr and 32 nmr area(s) listed above, known as the outer ring(s): All aircraft operating within the outer ring(s) listed above are limited to aircraft arriving or departing local airfields, and workload permitting, ATC may authorize transit operations. Aircraft may not loiter. All aircraft must be on an active IFR or VFR flight plan with a discrete code assigned by an air traffic control (ATC) facility. Aircraft must be squawking the discrete code prior to departure and at all times while in the TFR and must remain in two-way radio communications with ATC.

C. The following operations are not authorized within this TFR: flight training, practice instrument approaches, aerobatic flight, glider operations, seaplane operations, parachute operations, ultralight, hang gliding, balloon operations, agriculture/crop dusting, animal population control flight operations, banner towing operations, sightseeing operations, maintenance test flights, model aircraft operations, model rocketry, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), and utility and pipeline survey operations.

D. FAA recommends that all aircraft operators check notams frequently for possible changes to this TFR prior to operations within this region.

Standard presidential TFR. Guess where my home airport is. Just barely inside one of the inner donuts.

Once again bureaucratic overreaction caused by undue paranoia and a crazy belief that one person's hyper-inflated sense of worth makes him worthy of such hoopla has caused folks who pay for it all to be inconvenienced.

Well there you go. Now you're like the close KSMO crowd. You KNEW you based your airplane in an area where VIP TFR's are routine and now you're not happy about it! We're not talking BFE here, we're talking LAX.

Kidding aside, yeah, it blows. The only upside is that candidates and that guy in office now only go to LAX during election years. Oopps, I thought I was done kidding.

I didn't want to have to drive 45 minutes away to get to my plane... So I'm kinda stuck here. Lol.

Make the inner donut 8 instead of 10 miles and I'm good.

But you're right... Fortunately it is only a problem for a couple of days once every four ye...wait.

All kidding aside though, usually there aren't quite this many. They have them set up for every site and usually the president just goes to maybe 1 site away from LAX then back. Appears there are going to be a few appearances in the area this time.

Why every time there is a VIP TFR is there is a post suggesting that GA is grounded? ...yeah, based in the 10NM ring you are hosed, sure...but otherwise read the TFR...or is talking to ATC too scary?

I think it's because no "training" is allowed, and all us lowly GA pilots are really just training, right? Oh, no, well, what, help, I had an idea, but it has been a while.

Yeah, SkyVector was hemorrhaging red when I pulled it up yesterday. On top of everything else, there's the Breitling Air Show off the coast of Huntington Beach. I am juuuusssst outside the massive red blob at Cable.
Today was perfect for flying...I went to Sedona for breakfast and put 5.3 hours on the Hobbs meter. Nice tailwind outbound...185-190 mph ground speed, but about 150-155 mph back.

We are grounded, with a 32nm ring, what ever happened to the standard 30nm ring.
30nm would ground us anyway, so why not 2nm more.

No gliders, or RC aircraft, UAS, balloons.

I just found it amusing that there were so many damn circles all over the area this time. Since I'm in the 10 nm ring, I'm totally boned. And I have talked to ATC literally every flight since my PPL checkride.

Didn't realize people were so sensimitive about TFRs.

Avare is fantastic. I'm glad I stumbled across it. Not a huge fan of the new UI changes. I liked having the frequencies on the first page in a little drop down and now it's another tab. But meh. The price is right!

I feel the same. I'm also based inside the San Diego TFR area and flew both yesterday and today. No big deal. VFR Flight Following is all you need, and I always get that anyways if I'm not IFR. Also, it's not even like these lasted very long. The Vegas one was for like 3 hours, San Diego was around 18 hours or so (and overnight). It's overkill, but whatever, I have bigger things to worry about.

Well, I was supposed to fly to KNYL yesterday.... but the obama safe space was the least of my worries.

Yes, Soggy Dry Lake (SOGGI) was actually soggy for a change!! That storm pounded South OC...some of the loudest thunderclaps I've ever heard.
