Should I require proof of insurance and ability to follow industry standards with respect to work place safety and fall protection in particular?

You bring up a valid point. Many adjusters are contractors.
Clark has been a sole proprietor so knows about the workman's comp thing. That does not prevent the sole proprietor from having insurance in place.Independent sole proprietorships even.
Clark should be really annoying and do like a lot of clueless companies do -- ask sole proprietors to show prod of Workman's Comp coverage.
Of course, you can't claim Workman's comp on yourself when you're the owner.
But that never seems to stop the idiots from asking for it.
I am a part owner of my business and opted in for work comp. Maybe this varies by state.Of course, you can't claim Workman's comp on yourself when you're the owner.
It varies a little, but, generally speaking, in most states (including Clark's) solos with no employees, members of an LLC, and some other similar types, are not required to have workers comp coverage, but it is available.I am a part owner of my business and opted in for work comp. I'm not so sure about that. When I owned my business, I had to sign annual waivers to opt out of Worker's Comp from me and my wife.Of course, you can't claim Workman's comp on yourself when you're the owner.
but it is available.
A point I wholeheartedly agree with.Which is my point: it is (or at least, may be) available.
Just any old cup. Really freak him out.Make them pee in a cup at the minimum.
Especially if you say "Sorry, I have to watch. Regulations."Just any old cup. Really freak him out.
Peeing in a cup and a release...not going there guys.Well, of course you'll write up a release form and have him sign it, right?

You want him to go away happy, right?Peeing in a cup and a release...not going there guys.
Actually I don't care about his mental state when he is gone. Insurance company already tried to jerk me around so there is no upside here. Hartford is a stay away once I can change companies. You want him to go away happy, right?![]()
Ummm nevermind.Actually I don't care about his mental state when he is gone. Insurance company already tried to jerk me around so there is no upside here. Hartford is a stay away once I can change companies.
No, have a few latex gloves hanging out of your pocket when you hand him the cup and notify him that after he is done filling it up, he is to undo his belt, lower his trousers .....I suppose that means you'll also skip the cavity search...
Adjuster. So you have a claim, or is this underwriting for a policy? (new or renewal)
