Tomorrow I'm going to pick up a mouse-proof dryer vent.

Jeez, you need to check your pockets before you do laundry.
Sure looks like an old Honda engine.
Thank Jebus I had already installed a metal-mesh-with-flap vent about 10 years ago. It keeps the dumba**es out. Your picture shows exactly what I feared when I installed the vent. Whew!
It took about an hour to install that vent. That's about a third what it took last night to find the mouse, disassemble enough of the dryer to get it out, and reassemble the dryer.
The vent has an upwards-facing air outlet inside that's topped by an inverted plastic cup that can ride up and down inside a cage of vertical rails. The air coming out of the vent pushes up the cup. When the air stops, it comes back down. Simple enough. I think it should work.
