Smart Phone Medicine

The phones are as sophisticated as the computers running most medical devices. Sensors are being miniaturized, so this could be our future. Well, yours. My phone is coal powered and does little more than make phone calls.

But for the FAA I still need to maintain a Telnet style modem system, a huge EKG machine on a cart.

Modern EKG machines are but small tablets that send signals to wifi and print on your network printer.

Sigh.

Why not? They're a more powerful computer than just about anyone had 10 years ago and most people have one in their pocket.

What I think would be great is if you could buy a sensor suite people could use to give themselves a weekly checkup. Then if anything fell outside of the normal range, the machine can alert you to see a doctor AND you can bring results of all those weekly tests for the doctor to look for trends.
