Does anyone here own a copy?

I’ve been curious about this book, but the high cost has kept me from purchasing without know a bit more

Same here. I had a chance to buy it at Reno one year (he was there selling signed copies, as memory serves, for much lower than they are now) but told myself “I’ll stop by after I walk around the pits for awhile.” Unfortunately he was out by the time I got back.

I’d love to read it, but the price has kept me from doing so.

Yeah, daunting book prices are a thing. I've been keeping my eyes out for a copy of "Building Aeroplanes for Those Magnificent Men", which is about... Building the aircraft for that movie.

The only thing that keeps me from buying it is the $700+ price on the used market and another $3.99 for shipping.

A PDF of it pops up on the interwebs from time to time.

It is an interesting book with great pictures, but isn't nearly an AMU interesting.

Maybe check at your local library. If they don't have it, maybe they can get it through an interlibrary loan.

I got mine back in 97 at the Nellis 50th anniversary air show. He had a table and was selling signed copies for $50. I bought a used one he had for only $25.

Excellent book. So is The Untouchables. No way I’d pay asking prices these days though.

I've got it, bought it when I met the author at an aviation conference. Paged through it a couple of times. Classic definition of a "coffee table book." Put legs on it, and you've got a coffee table....

Son got me a copy years ago for my birthday.

If you like the SR71, the photos won't disappoint.

Son searched for three years before finding a "good" copy for under$150. ABE Books is where he found it.

Do AutoCAD drawings. Have a SR71 Habu model that I have been working on since 2002, over 3000+ hours of trying different things.

Member of Papermodelers.com. I have a free down load of it you can download print at home, construct using white glue.

It is 28" long, rendition of the SR71 Blackbird, Lockheed has the Trademarks/copyright for the name SR81 Blackbird, but not HABU. Model is designed to fly, CG location marked on fuselage. Here is a link to the download page. https://www.papermodelers.com/forum/vbdownloads.php?do=main&perpage=20&categoryid=21&page=19

The model is at the very bottom, the instructions are the second download you will need. Must be a member to download. Probably three days of cutting/gluing. No jigs required. Takes me 10-hours to construct, lots of prior practice. 12- pages of parts that drink plenty of ink.

Here is what a 48" long Paper Card Stock SR71 HABU looks like:

Why the roll? Forgot to glue the right rudder on, it was dry fit. Within 0.5 seconds of this photo, it came off. Inverted crash. Model survived and flew more photo missions.
