Skylane Into House, Cashmere, WA, Two Injured, 7/30

The runway at 8S2 is 1800’ long at an altitude of 858’.

Closest ASOS is 14nm away at Wenatchee/Pangborn (KEAT).:

KEAT 302355Z AUTO 26007KT 10SM CLR 38/02 A2987 RMK AO2 SLP102 T03830017 10383 20294 56021

That’s a density altitude of over 3700’ with a possible tailwind (though, it being in a fairly narrow mountain valley can alter the wind significantly).

It crashed into the back (the side facing the runway) of that dark grey house heading eastbound (toward the camera), which is less than 500’ from the departure end of runway 7. It almost looks like that tract was a clearway of some sort at one point and that house is kind of shoehorned into it behind an apparently older house.

If I were into that sort of thing, the way it crashed looks like it fulfilled some sort of cosmic destiny for that house. Glad nobody was seriously hurt.

Prop strike if engine was off and stopped before hitting the house? Iow any direction makes a tear down necessary?

Anyway, looks like a peaceful landing, like a baby kangaroo in mama’s pouch

"You can't park there, sir!"

Reminds me of a local hamburger joint that had a fake aircraft crash as decor, lol. Had the tail section sticking out of the top/front of the building as well.

Juan Browne has a new vid out imploring us to practice until we can land on the numbers, every time, and uses this accident as well as 2 others as examples. Man, does he sound cranky! He’s right, of course.
Fly safe, y’all.
Blanco imploring us

Takes guts or a lack of awareness for danger to build a house there. It’s not that old either. Though the Google and Apple Maps show it, our trusty sectional chart satellite image doesn’t.

Final is out (N759NB to help the search function). Landed long with extra speed and some tailwind, felt the plane wasn't stopping properly and attempted a go-around.
