OK, so I am studying about the subject plots and am looking at this one in particular. Does the dew point separation from the temp at about 5000 ft indicate a layer up to 5000 ft and then another at about 8000 ft?

Conversely, this one is showing clouds up to 10,000 Ft, which does jive with a recent PIREP.

Yup. Where the two heavy lines coincide, you have clouds or fog.

But keep in mind that those links are volatile. They will show something different in 6 hours.

FYI, I think you'll have a somewhat easier time with the HTML5 form rather than the GIF form. Even on a tablet.

Looks that way. It is also worth noting when the temps go below freezing.

I am aware of the workshops that Scott puts on. Waiting to see when the next ones are. He usually puts the info up on BeechTalk as well.

I believe he announced that he was scaling back the number and frequency of live workshops when he joined ForeFlight.
