I found this on YouTube the other day. Looks like tremendous fun and at least a little practical too.
Has anyone heard of them? Apparently some semi-famous Australian aviator had one built for him.

This thing scratches many of my itches. I wonder if it would be viable with deice boots...
 
Its not practical but i would love a seaplane. A couple of seareys are near me - owned by friends of a friend. The water around here is mostly brackish or salt so not super friendly to mechanical things. I want to get my ASES rating for my 45th birthday but with young kid i am not flying nearly enough right now to justify it.
