SBS program office reserved my old tail number, and 50000 more

So just for fun I looked up my old tail number. The plane was exported and deregistered right after I sold it in 2010. It now shows up as reserved by SBS Program Office. I searched by name using SBS Program Office and it came back with over 50000 tail numbers reserved.

What gives.

I am curious as well. An old plane was flipped over the other day at the airport and I found its number registered there.
