Meant to post this before, but could be good news for the marketplace!

S-Tec & Chelton Flight Systems have been sold by Cobham of UK to Genesys Flight Systems, and the new combined business is based in Mineral Wells.

The new owner of S-Tec and Chelton Flight Systems is a name you probably have never heard. Genesys Aerosystems, newly formed by original Chelton co-founders Gordon Pratt and Rick Price along with former Cobham Avionics executive Roger Smith and director of finance Tammy Crawford, now employs about 140 former Cobham workers, most of them in Mineral Wells, Texas, where S-Tec is based.

Local folks, they intend to reinvigorate the brand. Sounds good to me!

Hope they'll sell me a wing leveler for a few bucks. But - prolly not. Welcome to TX.

Sounds good to me. Cobham didn't exactly have a great reputation for their service.

Who knows, maybe they stop pizzing on their customers from here going forward.

Can one dare to dream? Gives me hope. Finally my System 30 is working really well, but I don't expect it to stay that way for long. Just the way airplanes seem to go. So, a change in management sounds good to me.

Our King KFC-200 may be from the dinosaur age, but the thing works amazingly well.

I always thought it was funny that both Century and S-TEC autopilot companies are located in Mineral Wells. It's the GA autopilot capital of the world!

Any common lineage? Not uncommon for expertise to leave one place and form a startup. Not aware of that here, but curious.

AFaIK, that's exactly what happened. Some folks left Century and started S-Tec.

I'm sure all the heavy competition in the certified autopilot market will create better products at much lower prices.

(Where's that sarcasm font?)

I'm hoping either this or the upcoming FAA simplification of rules will cause a more affordable wing leveler to be available for my Archer.

I said hoping, not expecting.
