All this talk about RV's got me thinking...

Not too long ago, I got to take part in a road trip aboard a class C from Cruise America on a relocation special. We had fun, but I thought that it rode and drove a lot like a U-Haul (wind whistling through the mirrors and cab-over section, duallies crashing over bumps, etc). I recognize that Cruise America is probably the Motel6 of the RV industry, but do other rigs ride like this? Or does the driving experience improve dramatically as you spend more money?

Anything built on a truck or van cab and chassis is ride and sound like an empty bread box in a wind tunnel with a crosswind. All that mass is anchored on a narrow frame. They are also the cheapest built for function over form.

As soon as you step up into rigs that are engineered from the ground up they can handle and ride like a dream...and yes, just like cars that performance increases with price point.

Motel 6, lol. Their units are certainly spartan. Mechanically, they are pretty much uhauls
The big class A pushers ride like a motor coach, because that's what they are. Air suspension, rear engine and mass make a difference.

when the are cheap, you can't expect much.
we have no wind noise until we open a window. we have more problems with stuff that rattles.
