I didn’t want to steal someone else’s excuse this year!you could'a just said "I'll be out of town"..........
48 hours she said, when I made my reservation just now. And yes, I just quoted you.their cancellation policy is much better than gaston's, but I don't recall it specifically. I think it's like a day or two before, full refund but don't quote me.
Also just made my reservation and was cheerfully told about the cancellation policy
I did just have a thought though ... if we're flying in do they have parking and tie-downs for all or do we need to bring our own solution?
I'm also curious about what we do as a group if we run into weather issues like @eman1200 is taking about in the above post? Is the event cancelled? do some folks drive? I'm just a lowly vfr guy and weather is my enemy lol ...
IIRC there are tie-down anchors but no ropes.as for tiedowns, if I recall they have chocks there, I actually don't recall if they have ropes or not. I also don't recall either being an issue for anyone. I think I have spare ropes in the plane but haven't used them yet. there's a convenient parking lot for planes and so far we've been able to fit them all. there's probably room on the grass somewhere but we haven't needed that yet. there's also 3 other airports very close by if for some reason we needed to park planes elsewhere. they're close enough to be able to shuttle folks back and forth, but again we haven't needed that yet.
LOLif the group has music or a radio or something that might have copyright implications they would charge us $25
You must have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night!there was potentially a bigger issue going on. there is a new group sales person there who took over for Mary. she sent me a 6 page contract to sign for the event which had some crazy shtuff in there. I said nope, won't be signing that. they had some crazy stipulations in there like if the group has music or a radio or something that might have copyright implications they would charge us $25. I laughed and said you're going to charge us if we play the radio????? she said well, maybe we need to update what's in this contract lol. I also said she may be misunderstanding what we do. we're just a bunch of hooligans who meet up, we're not like some kind of sponsored group or have vendors or anything lke that. she said the contract is mainly to hold/guarantee spots at the discounted rate for a specified timeframe. I said that normally happens like this: "you have one month to book under the discounted rate, after that the spots open up at regular rate" and I said we have always been fine with that. I also mentioned they never guaranteed that we'd get all the cabins in one area, as we've had outsiders staying in cabins in our area. finally, I brought up the cancellation policy and said I hope she understands that we're mostly weather dependent, and we all understand that going in that there is potential for having to cancel last minute. she stated they will do their best not to penalize anyone who cancels due to weather. so, that conversation was fun but I think we got it worked out.
How much do they charge for @OkieFlyer to play guitar?they had some crazy stipulations in there like if the group has music or a radio or something that might have copyright implications they would charge us $25.

He is thinking about hitching a ride this year. I hope he does. It was sure good to see him last month. How much do they charge for @OkieFlyer to play guitar?
Did he sell the plane or something? It seems he mostly disappeared from PoA but I wasn't keeping up well myself so I missed if he said what was going on.He is thinking about hitching a ride this year. I hope he does. It was sure good to see him last month.
He and his family are doing great. CiCI came and I got to meet all of their kids. Great family.

I usually pop on here once a year for 6Y9 info but thinking about tasting bourbon with y'all in April.
I joined the Rutan fly-in at Rough River years ago and we camped on the airport. Is that still allowed?
we camped on the airport. Is that still allowed?
Did they fix the runway lights, or do y’all still need me to help with lighting?3,200 foot paved and lit airstrip

Always do to make sure I can use the airway-pool lane.Yes, but it's BYOB
(bring your own blow-up-doll)
The year I camped there we were definitely set up south of the taxiway and ramp. There wasn't anyone there to tell us any different.I almost camped one year - then a bed opened up (not @eman1200 's), so I opted for that. IIRC it was blowing 30 so setting up a tent wasn't very appealing. I believe the camping area is immediately north of the ramp (but not blocking the PAPIs).
That's it, I'm out.Not gonna air any specific dirty laundry but it's a dry county - one of the attendees got picked up by the 5-0 wandering around by the dam late at night, three sheets to the wind, and got to enjoy the local lock-up for the evening.
I called one year to find out. South of the paved parking is officially grass overflow parking and part of the grass runwayThe year I camped there we were definitely set up south of the taxiway and ramp. There wasn't anyone there to tell us any different.

Hhhmmmmm??? Is Crash bringing the chain saw?
What do you think the chain saw is for. We are going to do some home building and make a Frankenstein airplane!I'm beginning to worry I'm still not going to have a plane![]()
I’m beginning to to think your best option is to step up production on the RV-14.I'm beginning to worry I'm still not going to have a plane![]()
